Yup, only using any natural will tell you where it fits in your process..
And yes, all stones need to be lapped flat.
Everten's are another seller that sometimes beat Carba-Tec prices, just depends on specials. Check both if you want DMT.

Atoma plates are always my choice for their quality & consistency.
Japan-tool is the Aus seller for those if you go that way. So Yamashita is the owner & operates from Taree NSW.

Thanks Oz. Was looking at the Atoma and reading some reviews. What are your thoughts re the grit rating? Some say the 600 is just as good / fast as the dmt 325 and better to get than the 400, and leave the surface better finished, and another review suggested to go for the 1200.
It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice

Thanked: 983There's a large bit of dirt between me and Ed, and a good chunk of it's desert and death adders Steph. You'd have to drop in for a visit here, and then carry on the breadth of the continent to catch up with Ed. You could catch a plane to Africa or Bali from there. Bali is much closer and cheaper to visit than Africa though.

They all leave tiny visible scratches even the 1200 , tho I havent used the 600. It's just the nature of the pimpled surface. You have to be light handed with them. I find the 400 ideal up tp 5k ish then the 1200 after that. 600 maybe an ok compromise if you want only one.
Can you see the scratches I'm talking about ? No ? Well I said they were tiny. The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Thanked: 203All naturals vary. That is the nature of the beast.
My 325 DMT works great on my Naniwa SS range. First time i used it on my yellow coticule i had an "oh crap" moment. Left it feeling rough and blades felt like they were on a coarse stone.
Took a while lapping on wet dry paper on a glass plate from 600 to 1200 to 1500 to get back to that smooth suctiony feel i love. Now i only lap that stone with wet dry paper on tempered glass.
I would say try that first, and only go to DMT if not getting the results you need.
See you Sunday.Respectfully,
Adam.
