You can edit the post for a day or so I think.
Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

Andrew I've edited out your address but let me know if you'd prefer it to stay. I can put it back.
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Hi Oz,
Nothing in particular I want to know as such, as there's heaps of info on the site, but hoping someone coming to the meetup has experience and can show me how to use it properly, and also evaluate it. I assume its going to be Ok as a stone, as its Select grade purchased from Classic Edge (Canada) - 8x3 inches from memory, but will wait and see. Im guessing one can't tell the quality simply by looking at it/pics.
Also for anyone else coming, if you have a lapping plate lying around that you don't use I'd be interested in buying. Had one on order but was informed they ran out of stock and no eta for restocking. I have a chosera 1k new, looks flat but I've read that it should be lapped before use? Plus a small escher needing lapping.
Finally, for any aussies reading this, Aldi have a special on Saturday for a small grinder/polisher for about $40.It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice

Andrew, have you tried Carbatec for a DMT lapping plate? They usually have the DMT-D8C (the 325 grit plate) in stock.
The link is DMT® DiaSharp™ Whetstones : CARBA-TEC

Thanks,
Will try to get there Saturday if they have stock and if I get time.
Is the 8" fine or is the 10" worth paying a little extra for? It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice
