Yep mum is kiwi dad is English. Good there are ones in Oz to get it back quicker but I will try house of knives like suggested by someone first and if they don't do a good job will look at the Aussies for honing.

I agree on the skill set but I support England in football. Actually we could do with improving that as well lol

Yeah well, there you have it again. I support Wales in the Rugbi myself, but for football (soccer to the heathens out there) I support the local Brisbane mob .

I support England for the rugby as well as I have spent most of my time in England, the latest win we had against the All Blacks was SWEET! I agree there Soccer is for heathens. I support Chelsea for my club team (I'm not a plastic fan though my Grandad and Dad both support Chelsea so I've been raised on them)

My package from WhippedDog came today woooooo! Just about to go open it

Steve Dempster at "The Invisible Edge" in Malvern, UK ships worldwide at a reasonable rate. I've used his honing/polishing service and he's first rate and has a pretty quick turnaround. Introduction to razors

I'm going to keep a close eye on this thread as we are moving from Devon, UK to Bay of Islands, NZ as soon as our house here in UK sells. Got the visa's just before Xmas. Finding out anyone nearer to BoI, NZ than Malvern, UK would possibly be an advantage; but that aside, Steve does do an excellent job.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi grayman11,

House of knives has a good overnight service monday to thursday and a fairly good price(depends on how much work your blade needs).

The last one I got them to hone didn't "feel" sharp but it shaved beautifully(december last year).

There is also a guy on trademe, gentelmansblades, or something like that who has a sharpening service but I haven't used him yet.

As for the house of knives or anyone claiming they can hone razors, the question to ask them is whether they shave with one. If the answer is no, run away.
I have met the man doing ALL thier honing and he does use a straight razor. He also did 3 of my blades and did a good job at a reasonable price.

If there is no luck I can hone it for grayman11 as I am in Auckland west.

I am a new member with limited honing ability but it has improved dramatically since I bought a 10000grit Japanese hone from Carbatec(NZ$200)

I shave with my vintage razors now and have retired my shavette.
