Sorry to hear it was a bust.
I've only been hunting in Auckland in the central area and found 2 shops that had staights one with some way over priced Bengalls (talking $100+) and another that only had rusted junk but the owner informed me he had about a 100 Straights before Christmas but a few people came and cleaned him out (this was the end of Jan when I was in so was gutted)
Haven't been again since but hope to go soon when I have some money to play with.

I actually had no high hopes on finding anything and I just used the razors as an excuse to go for a joy ride and get out of Auckland for the day.
But still it would have been good to come back with a new (to me) razor.
Those Bengalls seem to be everywhere but $100.00 or more is ridiculous.
I always hear these stories from dealers about I had x amount of razors up until a few weeks ago but they are all gone now.
Who is this mystery person that is buying up all these mystery razors, does he/she or the razors truly exist???Last edited by planetocean; 03-31-2013 at 10:39 AM.

Fair enough would of been a nice bonus.
Yea it seems NZ was a good market for Bengalls (I already have 3 of them they are away getting some nice custom scales put on by DoughBoy68 from this forum)
Yea must be BS but still if true you have to wonder where these people and razors end up!Last edited by grayman11; 03-31-2013 at 10:41 AM.

I told him if I buy a razor I buy it to use it, I think he thought I was talking a load of BS.
I should not tell anyone because it will deplete my supply of razors but try Antiques and Collectibles at the corner of Greenlane west and Manukau Rd.
Very cluttered little shop and you have to ask to see most of his straights and shaving paraphernalia.
He has 2 Ivory scaled items that are around the $90 mark and mostly chipped and damaged straights for very reasonable prices.
Need a lot of work but still something salvageable.I have already bought most of the better ones and am now using them!
I have also found there are plenty of Bengal razors around, must be something to do with the fact that we were settled mostly from England.

Oh me too.
Sorry guys I must have beat you to this Kropp unless of course you did not want it.
Not sure when you guys first visited that shop but I must have had this around a year now.
This razor is in excellent condition and hardly seems used.
Mind you it is the only razor I have bought there so happy hunting.

How did you go with finding someone to hone for you in Auckland?
