I am probably not going to hunt this year, but I am planning to meet up with a buddy and camp with him while he bow hunts. We usually have two hunt/camps a year; one in October and the last weekend of bow season in January. There will be some sitting around the fire with lots of food. One of the places we might go has awesome bass fishing so I will have to post pics.

For me it's all about the dogs. Rangley Lakes , Maine. God's country! Sometimes you even get a few birds, but nothing beats watching a good dog work.

Your picture brings back great memories for me. For years i hunted grouse in southern part of Ohio and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan with my Brittneys. I have some great stories about those dogs. Watching dogs work is a great experience.
I haven't hunted the last couple of years due to my demanding work schedule. Each year in the past I would take a doe (whitetail) in early bow season and see what panned out later in the year along with the bird hunting. This fall I have a few does bedding within 100 yards of my house. My dogs let me know each evening as they come out into the hay field. This past Saturday I was fortunate enough to come home with a new 12 guage and a 50 cal. muzzleloader after attending the local Ducks Unlimited Banquet. Not that I needed more guns but it sure puts the desire back into me to get out there and enjoy experiences.
To answer the original question it is becoming more and more likely that whitetail are on top of the list. I also have a pretty good group of turkeys close to my house and keep finding their feathers in my yard. May have to address that situation too.The value and interest of life is not so much to do conspicuous things.........as to do ordinary things with the perception of their enormous value.

Some species of animals like black bears come in a variety of colors, or phases. I have two blacks and the chocolate and cinnamon picutured above. Here is a better photo of the colors. Coyotes are the same way with color phases ranging from blond to black.
Here is one of my "black" bears.
