Thanked: 1936I've got the sig 938 & glock 26. I agree that the glock isn't a real pocket pistol, but it fits very well in cargo shorts. The lil sig is the smallest/most comfortable shooting 9mm that I am aware of. I have shot some that were real twitchy in the hands & I'm not recoil sensitive. I will post some pics soon.
BTW, I have unholstered once due to a two legged threat, unholstered and fired several times due to dogs & snakes. My vacations/travels are literally dictated by the States who reciprocate my CCW. If it's not a gun friendly state, they don't need me or my $$.
I just picked up a box of those new trending super light & super fast 9mm jhp bullets, talk about lightening a load! I'll function check them and hopefully they will work fine. I bought mine at $29 a box (20 count), so they aren't cheap. They are 50 grain hollow points, fly at 2000 fps, have a muzzle energy of 450 foot pounds. Look them up at www.libertyammuntion.com Mine are the USM4 9mmSoutheastern Oklahoma/Northeastern Texas helper. Please don't hesitate to contact me.

So, just to be clear, carrying a concealed weapon and USING it does not mean carrying a concealed weapon and punching holes in paper or knocking down steel targets....I'm thinking, it means drawing down on the bad guy and punching a hole in him (to be fair, or her)? A quick story about carrying a concealed weapon: I carried, without permit, a Colt 1911 in the small of my back after my then lady friend befriended a sociopath (we were in Arizona). I warned her to stay away from this guy, he was the real thing, a bad guy, thief, biker, meth user and con artist....he finally crossed the line with her (theft) and we went to arm ourselves, me with the .45 and her with a hammerless .38 wheel gun. Nope, I didn't have to use it, but somebody did use a gun on this guy because a dog carried his hand into the yard of his owner and a police investigation found the shallow grave in the Mojave Desert.
I've been shot at while swimming in a quarry and held up at gunpoint....so, no problems with concealed carry."Call me Ishmael"

I absolutely love my PPS. It gets carried 3/4 of the time; winter, summer it fits all with the right ammo. I keep it loaded with Speer Gold dot 9mm +p.
I am afraid I was forced to draw mine to maintain my own and a bystanders safety in a parking garage. Luckily the assailant surrendered before I was forced to fire and remained peaceful until the police arrived.

Thanked: 1936Why do I carry my pocket nine (along with my little NAA Pug .22mag)? Here was a writeup in our local paper about a week ago:
Hugo, OK, population 5,395, is located in Oklahoma's Choctaw county, about 97.0 miles from Plano and 100.1 miles from Garland.
Through the 90's Hugo's population has declined by about 7%. It is estimated that in the first 5 years of the past decade the population of Hugo has stayed about the same. Since 2005 Hugo's population has declined by about 1%.
Hugo's property crime levels tend to be higher than Oklahoma's average level. The same data shows violent crime levels in Hugo tend to be much higher than Oklahoma's average level.
recent stats available.
Hugo OK Has a crime rate of 56 per one thousand residents, Hugo has one of the highest crime rates in America compared to all communities of all sizes from the smallest towns to the very largest cities. One's chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime here is one in 18. Within Oklahoma, more than 96% of the communities have a lower crime rate than Hugo.
Importantly, when you compare Hugo to other communities of similar population, then Hugo crime rate (violent and property crimes combined) is quite a bit higher than average. Regardless of how Hugo does relative to all communities in America of all sizes, when compared it to communities of similar population size, its crime rate per thousand residents stands out as higher than most.Southeastern Oklahoma/Northeastern Texas helper. Thanked: 1936As promised, here are a couple of my "friends". I most always carry in a Crossbreed holster or a clone.
Clockwise: S&W 642 J frame (hammerless) stainless, Sig P938, Glock 26, Kimber Ultra CDP II
Clockwise: Super Carry Pro, Ultra CDP II, , Glock 26, Sig P938
Left to Right: Ultra CDP II, Sig P938, Glock 26
The round butt Kimber was just thrown in as it's the one in my holster today, love that gun...carries SO well & shoots like a dream.

Speaking of "Pocket" nines, I believe a huge factor is what makes a pistol a true pocket gun is the holster. Here are a few I have used with great success. All are made by Sam Andrews of Andrews Leather in Alachua, FL..leather crafter extraordinare'
The two oddly shaped holsters are designed to be worn in a front pocket. The little "wing" thingy nestles right in the corner of your pocket and both stabilizes the holster so your pistol isn't flopping around and also as a side benefit, keeps all that nasty lint from building up in there. The square-ish looking holster follows the same theory but is to be carried in a back hip pocket..or a cargo pocket works also. The flat side goes against the outside and does a great job of preventing "printing".
When it's just for everyday casual carry, these are hard to beat..especially the set up incorporating the S&W 442. Yeah, it's a .38 and this thread is about nines, but I figured it was worth mentioning.Last edited by Phoenix51; 08-14-2014 at 06:37 PM.
