Thanked: 1184Well I been investigating this vape thing for a few weeks now. Lady friend is quitting smokes and so I joined in the idea. Was concerned about the risks but from all I see vaping is a lot better than cigs and this thread has confirmed all I researched.
I bought this Wismec Reuleaux RX 2/3 Temperature Controlled Box Mod. Looking at topping it with a Smok - Baby beast. From what I see it puts out big clouds (not wanting to break records here) and saves battery life. I think this model will last all day and charge at night. Should probably get a charger soon.
I was thinking of getting 2 tanks because some of the guys tell me they like 2 vapes so they can switch back and fourth on flavors. I am hoping the tanks won't leak juice when they are not connected. And why are all the good off the shelf flavors so void of nicotine? I am thinking 12g juice to start as a trade off to cigs. and then tapering off the nicotine as I go. Hope this thing curbs my appetite. That's the only thing that bothers me about giving up cigs. Last time I put on 30 pounds and it took longer to give that up than the smokes :<0)Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Been vaping now for 2.5 years...it's certainly "harm reduction", but I tell ya, without my vape, I'd be back smoking cigarettes like a fat kid on a Smarty...I've had dreams of smoking occasionally. But this works, and not convinced I may even try and quit the vaping...it's just one of those things, going out for a "smoke" is where I clear my head, get a chance to chat with people from various aspects of the company, and I can't tell you how many problems been solved this way.
Takes getting used to. I had two full packs of smokes left when I got my vape. Started the day with a "real smoke" and used the vape throughout the day. Two packs lasted me close to a month. When I came down to the last couple of "analog smokes", I debated buying another pack and said, I'll just have to jump right in and cut the cord...this is the best compromise aside from quitting there is.
Best thing I ever did...just give it a month and don't have any "analog" smokes, take your time to get used to it...it breaks up a lot of the "ritual" and how you smoke, but once that's over with....it's the best...lot cheaper to.

Vaped for a year back in 2013 and went back to cigarettes. Mainly because I locked my e-cig in my work van, along with my keys in the middle of a storm with a tornado warning in the area and I was getting pissed. Bought a pack and smoked one and was able to get the van unlocked right afterwards. I couldn't give the damn things away so i smoked them. Picked my e-cig back up a few months later and haven't had one in a little over 2 years. I get annoyed with it at times but it helps and I get compliments on the smell.

First thing i would say is definitely invest in a charger sooner than later, personally i dont like to charge stuff overnight but also it gives you the option of having a spare set of batteries pre-charged. The Nitecore D series chargers have not let me down yet and are pretty easy on the pocket.
Wismec are making some pretty solid battery mods right now and i have been tempted by the older model of the Reuleaux a few times but i would just be spending money for the sake of it as i am already sitting on more battery mods than i use.
The Reuleaux RX 2/3 can run with 2 or 3 18650 batteries which is pretty hardcore, the mod i use for work runs a single 18650 and i get 2 or 3 days from that (but i use it purely for work and switch to something with a bit more beef when i get home) Running it with 2 should give you a pretty good battery life, just make sure your batteries are from a reputable source and are legit, there are many fake batteries out there claiming to be sony's or vfests ect that have a lower amperage than the legit ones which puts a load on the batteries that you want to avoid, Legit, reputable vape stores ect are a much better source for batteries than place like amazon or ebay.
Just been reading up on that smok baby beast, good reviews, they are a company that is constantly improving and sell some good products.
Two things i noticed, both regarding the coils/replaceable atomizer heads for it.
Firstly, they by standard are a 0.2 ohm coil. I build my own coils for my tanks, and i build at about this resistance also but just a heads up, like you say... clouds!! your gonna be getting a helluva draw from this, also these lower resistances are what put high load on the battery which is why i mentioned earlier about legit/fake batteries.
Secondly, i only looked at 3 websites but i cannot find info on what wire type the coils are made from, this is not a problem or even really that important, infact i apologize if i am getting into areas that may sound technical or off putting, the reason i mention this is that it probably means they are made from a Kanthal wire, which is a pretty standard and good all round wire, however it means you cannot use your battery mod in temp control mode, only in wattage mode. Temp control only works with certain wire types (stainless steel, nichrome, titanium).
again, this is by no means a problem, i was put off using temp control for a long time just because running in wattage mode is straight forward and it does what it says on the tin.
in all, the wismec and baby beast will make a nice setup indeed and i hope it works out for you

With a mod like this one 12mg nicotine may be way to much, meaning this high will will give you a harsh hit. Most mfgs. Suggest 6mg or lower. I have a KangerTech subvod mega tc that I run 3mg 50\50 VG,PG in and it's just right, I can run 6mg but the juice is a bit harsh for my taste. I would suggest you buy small 5ml sizes at different Nick levels to try.

I also make most the liquid i vape myself, when you start hitting sub ohm coils you should be looking towards a more VG mix, if possible, try the same juice in a 70/30 or 80/20 VG heavy mix. a good rule of thumb is PG creates throat hit and VG creates cloud. theres more to it than that, but its a good measure point.

That's a good point heavy VG can make a big difference in both vapor production and flavor.

My first recommendation for new vapers is the kangertech topbox or subtank (same thing different versions). They're like the honda civic of tanks. Dependable and almost every brick and mortar store carries coils.
12 nic juice is the very upper limit to these tanks. My father uses the kanger, .2 ohms and 12 nic; just quit for the new year. Bear in mind he was a 2.5 pack/day smoker and it is a little harsh for him. I have done 6 mg for awhile and will continue to do so.
PG/VG shouldn't be too much of an issue for you, I wouldn't worry about it for now. High vg is smoother, but you may want more throat hit during the transition.
I always recommend LG HG2 batteries (the brown ones). myvaporstore and vapordna are stores I have purchased from and will again.
GET. A. SEPARATE. CHARGER. The charging ports on the devices aren't as good for charging as a dedicated device. It can be done, and I know people who do it, but it's safer and more reliable. Plus it helps keep you off analogs if you have a spare set charged and ready to go.
1 18650 battery usually lasts me half to three-quarters of a day, although I am a heavy user.
Wismec is a good device. Temp control is a more advanced featur and it can give me trouble even though I ahve used it everyday for a year. The benefits do not out weigh the issues for you, at this moment. Think Norton 4/8 versus jnat.
Lastly, I see vaping as analogous to dieting. You eat a salad(vaping) and you're not hungry, but not as full as a half pound burger with fries(stinkies).
