Thanked: 250Those wedding ring pickles look every bit as good as Mom's Roy. Enjoy and feel free to share her recipe.

I posted in the Recipe Box--here;

I'm pretty sure that Joel's mother found the recipe in a magazine as I found the same recipe word for word online. Here:
Omg Delicious Cinnamon Pickled Cucumber Rings Cukes Recipe - Genius Kitchen
I did a couple of things different one was that I water batch canned them for 10 minutes. The original didn't. I wasn't comfortable with not processing like regular pickles. The other was I must have had too many rings as I didn't have liquid to cover so I added the water/vinegar solution to cover while they soaked for the few days and they taste just like Joel's mothers.
I opened a jar this morning and the processing didn't affect the crunchiness of the rings.
By the way, these rings not only don't look like any pickle you've seen before, the don't taste like any pickle you've ever eaten. Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.

Cool. Thanks. I'll give it a try for sure.
One thing that I've found to ensure crunchiness on my regular pickles is to include a small chunk of fresh horseradish in the jar.

Never heard of that one.
I am turning into a vegetarian between the garden and the farmers market!
I don't have enough room to grow any amount of corn but have had it for dinner 3 times in the last week for supper. One plant of Zucchini is more than enough to keep 3 of us happy.

Never saw an orange cucumber. This cuke is on a row that alternates yellow crookneck squash and pickling cucumbers. Wonder is there was some sort of cross-pollination going on. It's about 10-11" long. I haven't cut it open yet but I'm anxious to see what it looks like inside. The rain this week was great for the garden and things have sort of cooled off. Good harvesting right now.

I'm not a Botanist or whatever they are called but I've read that cucumbers and squash Must Be Planted far apart or they will cross pollinate--

A little googling says that I may have left it on the vine too long. Could be bitter. We'll find out soon.

My yellow squash and cukes are side by side with no problems

Thanked: 13246Mine is Dismal this year
I don't think it ever recovered from that last freeze in June, pretty much stunted everything, we have plants but little produce.
The people that actually know what they are doing up here have told me that unless I am willing to do either Hoop Tunnels or a Greenhouse I will always be at the mercy of the North Idaho Bipolar Mother Nature.
I might do some removable Hoops next year and see what happens
We have at least one ripe tomato hehehe
One nice thing was when I set in the plants I left room to actually roto-till around them so weeding was pretty easy"No amount of money spent on a Stone can ever replace the value of the time it takes learning to use it properly"
