Looks good. Love homemade jam/jelly. We always had dewberries and mustang grapes growing along the fence lines and bar ditches. Man I miss those jellies.

Dave just emailed the other day saying what a crappy year it's been for gardening.
Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdin’s cave of 'stuff'.

Cut a couple of the Rutgers Heirlooms last night. They were great!
Romas should be ripe soon...

You hit the nail right on the head Cuda! It has been slow in Cali too. My chilis are way behind schedule. I can only remember this happening once in 20+ years of gardening in the Bay Area. On the bright side it looks they are finaly taking off.

Things are ahead of schedule here, by a few weeks.
Cherry tomatoe plant is about 2' tall, and beginning to blossom. The bush beans are going crazy, and blooming as well.
Just a bummer I couldn't do any romaine lettuce, our spring lasted all but a few days before mid summer temps hit us, and stayed.

There's always late summer planting for lettuces for fall harvests. Also for peas as a 'green mulch'. While it's doubtful that you'd get peas for the table, you'll get nitrogen in the soil along with the decomposing stalks etc.

That..would be my only hope. But hours of daylight timing, is even more crucial that time of year.

The forecast for this weekend says its headed my way, Dave. I work outside, mostly. So I'm looking forward to a reprieve from the upper 80s n mid 90s.Last edited by outback; 06-21-2018 at 11:04 PM.
