Thanked: 4206Big mile stone tonight. Engine and tranny together for the first time ever.
Been a while to get here, but it sure feels great to actually have it all click.
40 years between the mfgr dates as well as a continent away but hell, she’s gonna be sweet as sugar as all these parts works in synchronicity.
Now to get her back in the chassis, which will hold my last challenges.
Happy to be here as this could take a bit of time to complete now, but I’m here. This’ll be the last steps before driving.

Great stuff Mike. Coming along nicely for sure. Can't wait for your next driving vid and hear the ol' girl out on the open road.

Some fresh innards and especially the transmission will transform the little beast.
Good work!"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."

Thanked: 4206Productive weekend and I swear things are mostly falling into place.
Back in the car and secured to the new mounts, Needed to tweak the corners of the new aluminum bell where it extended beyond the engine as I built the firewall very close tolerance, and sadly I nicked a brake line with the angle grinder so need to run a new line and rebleed the brakes, but it’s in!
Now to figure out the new tunnel and attachments to clean up the firewall where I had to cut things. Bought more firewall heat shield so I can dbl up what I have. Floor was pretty toasty before..

So is the shifter out from under the dash this time?

Thanked: 4206Sure hope so. The short shift kit has a shifter arm that I can bend, if I need to to make sure its out in a better spot. just eyeballing it it looks like the built in curve will be enough though..

Thanked: 4206Well that’ll be a slick stretch if I need it. Thanks for the link buddy.
This is what I have so far.
Like I said. I think it’ll be on the good side of the dash extension. Or right on the edge and the sweep of that shifter will bring it out.
If not. Plan B.
