The kaleidoscope's are for two grandkids and one for the wife. They did turn out nice. The finish is a shine juice burned in after a laquor sealer. Ive gotten good at the CA finishes but wanted to try something else. I will see how well this holds up.

It's a pipe used to smoke a variety of things; crack, weed, hash, angel dust, you know stuff to get off with. Sometimes they call it a shotgun pipe...

I agree for the most part but in this case on the chess board differences in the pawns will stick out like a sore thumb.

So the King will be mad if all his pawns aren't 5'6".

I don't think that he would care if they wernt 5'10" or 6'2".

Some might even be fatter than others?

I started the knight prototype this morning. I will say wood carvers do not have it easy.

That looks great.

Big enough that you can put a 25mm knot in the bottom. I expect that chess pieces have some sort of proportion to them and the diameter would predict the height. Although because it only needs to look like a chess queen, those proportions need not be accurate.

So far I’m loving it.

The queen in this set has a 1.7-inch base. So fitting a 25mm (1'') knot would be no problem at all. Just a matter of adjusting the height of the base to accommodate the extra depth needed to set the knot.

Not happy with the proportions of Queen's crown but that's why we prototype.
The same thing happened with the finial on top the king's crown. I'm just going to fix them both when I turn the actual set.
