Thank you Otto, they are relatively inexpensive compared to a lot of the top end compounds, but they are selling like hotcakes though out the states, mainly due to the 5 to 70 pound variance.

Has it been that long since he got the Genisis? It doesn't seem like it!

I have recommended those Diamonds to other people mainly because of their flexibility/adjustability.

I like the HHA sights and have one of my own. The only negative to them is that when shooting different distances you have to remember to adjust them! Speaking from experience.

I would recommend getting a bow sling for around his wrist. It will allow him to shoot the proper (my opinion) relaxed grip and not be afraid of dropping the bow. On my favorite bow all I have is a piece of paracord. It is cheap and doesn't restrict in any way.

Thanks Tim, I had to pull up the receipt on the Genesis, it was only a year & a half,,,FEb. of 2012. I sure does seem like 3 years.

I'll get him a wrap this weekend.

As for the distance, we are only shooting 23 yards right now.

You are either having lots of fun or going senile. My vote is for fun.

Here is a pic of my cord. Not the proper grip! Hard to hold an Ipad and the bow. Better than any store bought one. If you look you can see where I checkered the grip to keep from slipping. Most say I was crazy to do it. I lost value in the bow. I say it works great and how much value can I loose in a $200 bow?

Looks good. I got a Diamond Infinite for myself about 6 months ago. I shoot it during the day when he is at school.
As long as you keep the bow, I don't think it looses value at all,,,only when you go to sell it.

Took my 7&9 year old nephews for some archery fun, in the woods behind the house where my hay bales and targets are. I still have the jr 25lb pull recurve..that my kids used when they were young. Nothing like poping balloons with a bow and arrow... They had a blast !!!

Posted in the wrong target thread by accident.

Also any thoughts on the new releases for 2014?

So I'm just getting into building my own arrows and what not. My draw length is 28", does that mean that the shaft has to be 28" without the knock and broadhead?

No, you'll want to add about an inch to 1.5" to the shaft for hunting arrows. Target arrows you want as short as possible so the tip of the arrow sits on the rest. Broad-heads you want forward of the rest so that they sit just a bit clear of the bow/hand.

I've got a lot to catch up on. I'm looking at the Easton X7 Eclipse 2214 Shafts at 10.4 grains and 28" with a 125 grain field point (target arrows only for now). I've got a 60# bow, does that add up? Will fletching mess with arrow weight or its just for air dynamics?
