I've been bow hunting for over 20 years. For deer I don't really want to shoot at anything further than 30-35 yards. I do have a 60 yard pin but that's for elk hunting. I shot a lot of competition archery and even competed in the IBO world championship a long time ago. I have always loved bow hunting/archery!

Been shooting pins and release on a 31" ata for a couple of years. Love it. Getting after deer, and in my county in Virginia, I have ample late season on antler less (2013-14 until April 26). I want to make the jump to instinctive finger shooting on compounds. I'll be starting that w an old 46" ata Bear that was handed over to me from an uncle. I love watching this one guy with his hunting show. The dude shoots instinctive fingers on a Mathews parallel limb. Drops muleys at 110 yards.

My best friend after 30+ years of finger shooting finally went to a release. He wore his old bow out and couldn't find a modern compound with a long enough ata that he liked.
I get my finger fix with a recurve or longbow.
I am sort of jealous of your long season but then again my freezer is full from our shorter one.

Got my new Hoyt today, down from 60# to 50# and it feels perfect! Never owned a take down though, when you guys aren't using your take downs, do you keep them bolted or do you disassemble the limbs from the riser?

I always take it down and store it in my archery backpack.
To make sure the string doesn't untwist I just hook the string loops together.
