It won't be long before my shadow is big enough for his own!

I shot leagues with my last shadow for 5 years until there were more interesting things to do Friday night than to spend them with your dad.

P.S. He has shown interest lately in to returning!

My compound is in parts on my table,,, been there for over a month,,,, dry fired it by accident,,,, head up arse,,,, loud bang,,, new string, cables & touched up the limbs (very minor scratch) with fiberglass resin,,, will sand & paint tomorrow,,,, I've been learning how to work on them & tune them with a little help from friends & YouTube.
Tomorrow I'll shoot a recurve I have & my son his compound.

I was trying to think of a snappy remark but.... Good luck to both you and your son. Archery can span generations and abilities.

My two eldest girls have gotten some toy bows from the medieval fair held in my area over the weekend. I've never pushed them to take an interest in archery and they haven't seen me shoot, but my eldest saw these bamboo kids bows and just had to have one. Her younger sister followed suit (as I suspected she might) and wanted a smaller version of the same thing. They've been out in the side yard pushing toy arrows down range and trying to put them into an upturned bucket I shoved into the swing set. Each successful shot is building the desire to do better. Which will be limited by the equipment of course, but if the interest is sustained, I will be ordering a couple of youth fiberglass bows in the near future. They'll have to be limited to flu flu's at home. Not really safe enough to be pushing target arrows around the neighbourhood or my youngest little mischief maker.

Funny this thread popped up, I spent Saturday at the range getting my bowtech captain sighted in.

I generally watch this thread as I used to deer hunt with my old PSE but have become interested in more traditional archery so I'm considering (if I can ever find the time) building a self bow. There are a couple of locals that build so I'm hoping to get a little advice on starting one. Anybody here use a self bow?

I used a hickory selfbow. Had it quite awhile. One of my dogs chewed on it last month. Major bummer. My other bow is a bamboo-backed Osage. I used to hunt with them but haven't had the time for the last couple of years.
