Thanked: 0We have a lovely, very petite West Highland Terrier called Mildred (Millie for short!). She is now ten years old and starting to act like it. I used to have a pug but lost him in my divorce.
I come from a family of dog owners and breeders and my mother was a Kennel Club judge at Crufts. She bred Afghan hounds back in the sixties and sold loads to film and TV stars when they were the very trendy dogs to own.

Thanked: 0I have a golden retriever/German Shepard mix. Brains of a GSD, personality of a golden. So she spends all her time finding new ways to (1) ensure you love her, and (2) ensure you know she loves you. She'll be 10 in July, and is starting to show her age.

This morning we had to take one of our doggies, Mirkku, to vet to get the final needle. It was already 13 years old and for the last few days it had been sort of painful, it had already osteoarthritis and this morning also a fever. We could have prolonged the inevitabe for some time with strong pain killers but it would have been dog's life any more, so it was the time for the old shoe mugger to go.
It's the part of the dog owner's life but i still feel low anyways.
Here's the pic from the better days:

Sailor and Grizzley1 I am very sorry to hear of your loss. Never an easy thing to do but as owners we have to know when our beloved friends need our help in moving on. Our current Golden Bentley is 13 and the time is very close.

Thanked: 9My girl is a 7 yo pit mix names Mercedes. Got her at two years old and she had been in a no kill shelter since 3 months no one could adopt because of her heritage. My great town doesn't care as long as she is sweet and lovable.
