Thanked: 586I think I may have introduced him in one thread or another, I am always happy to show him doing something silly (which reminds me I should post a new comic). Here's my American pit bull terrier Basil playing in the snow:

I am a sucker for heinz 57 terriers
I have an oversized yorkie mix (most likely with poodle) and a staffie/border terrier/?? mix.
Icedog - love the pic of Basil! He's got that great "terrier on a mission" look in his eyes.Last edited by rsrick; 08-05-2008 at 01:14 PM.

I'm the co-owner, me and my brother, of two Chihuahuas. Surprisingly smart little buggers.
The first one is Brutus, and the second one is Bandit; both are pure-bread bought from a family member who used to breed them. My Grandfather actually owned Bandit's dad, until the dog passed away a couple weeks ago.

Thanked: 150I have a German Mastiff (Great Dane) named Otto. He's a little over 2 years old now, weighs in at around 175 lbs, stands 37 inches tall at the shoulders (around seven feet tall, standing on his hind legs) and is the most gentle dog I've ever met. Despite their imposing size, great danes would rather lean against someone while they get a back rub than be aggressive.
His head is above the height of our table, kitchen counters, cookie jar shelf and has never once taken food without being told he can have it. I couldn't have asked for a better dog.
p.s. If anyone has the chance to rescue one of these big guys, pleeeaase do so. Too many people get wrapped up in the novelty of their size only to realize they didn't really want the dog, or don't want to deal with it anymore and abandon them.Last edited by Russel Baldridge; 08-06-2008 at 05:38 PM.

I really like those Danes; they are wonderful dogs, nice and very friendly. One of my friend has one, and she likes to press her head against my stomach, exposing her neck to be scratch and trembles because of the tickles... The size could be problematic if you are living in a small apartment, but usually one knows what to expect when buying such a dog... there is on excuses abandoning one.

Cheers,

Russel,
The owner of the bike shop I used to work at has two danes. They often came to work with Nelo and despite their size were great shop dogs. He lost his female, Zima, last year but you will be happy to know he rescued another gentle giant. Gouga belonged to a nice guy who could not afford to take care of such a big dog and he could not have found a better new home. Nelo also has a rescue pit, Vino. I will try to get some pictures up of those rascals as well as my brindle pit lab mix, Dante.
Great dog photos everyone!
