I love cafe racers. I'm doing my best to get a cafe look on my Blast. Ricers are cool, cruisers are nice, but there's just something about a cafe racer that says "mmmm". Maybe it's the rough, barebones ride through whipping wind

    Love the bike!!!

I just sold my old BSA 650 Spitfire custom cafe racer, and have decided to buy another supermoto. I used to race AMA Supermoto, so I will likely pick up a new Husky 510 smr or a KTM 690! I am excited, but sad to see not one, but two of my vintage bikes go to new owners in a fairly short period of time! Back to racing I guess...

That's awesome. I converted my pitbike to a supermoto bike and thoroughly enjoyed it when I was able to do it. I'd love to be able to get back into real supermoto racing. Make sure to let us know if you get back into it. Racing pictures are a plus!

Very cool! Heres my old Beesa

Sitting in the garage unused, I need to get rid of it, quite fancy an airhead boxer R80 of some sort to pootle around on.

    Cool

I will likely start back racing next season, as I plan on acquiring and customizing a Husky or KTM as my summer project. I also have started to like the Husabergs, which are made by KTM as well. I suppose buying more collectible razors will have to subside for a bit, but at least I have some amazing ones thus far and I am fairly new to the art of the cutthroat!

Race worthy bikes (and racing semi-pro until I am sponsored again) costs A LOT of money! I figured what I would need to build up a new Husky 510 to my basic specs, and we are talking (including the cost of the 2009 model) over 20k! Not to mention having to buy extra sets of rims, tires, sprockets, chains, etc., just to get you through each race day!

It will be fun competing again though...I am going to get some private track time this summer to try and dial in my bike's suspension, etc. Has anyone here owned one of the Husky SMR's? I have always owned KTM's, but heard great things about the Husqvarnas.

Why do all of my friends in Europe seemingly have amazing vintage bikes just laying around or in storage??!! I am jealous; especially after all of the restoration work I have done to some of my Triumphs and BSAs! That's a gorgeous bike, btw...cheers!!!

That's why I got out of it. If upfront expenses don't kill you, maintenace, gas, and entry fees will.
