If I may, the main firing line is booked well into the future, but the rest of the show is open to the public (with a paid admission) so you are free to walk around, browse, buy or go down to the lower range and shoot your own gun or rent a machine gun. I don't go every year but I do try to go at least every other year and the shoots are every spring (april) and fall (october).

If you want to bring your own guns and shoot them on the main firing line for the machine gun shoot, that is booked years in advance. But many of the people who have reserved a spot let people shoot their guns for a fee. Shooting on the main firing line is just a small part of what goes on there. You can still shoot fully auto guns all you want, just maybe not on the main line. I always participate in the pistol and assault rifle matches, and the night show is amazing.

This is my favorite gun:
The link is from Wikipedia, but the image is of a gun from 1/A/2-218 FA (my platoon before I took over as BN S-2) shooting a HERA (High Explosive Rocket Assisted) round from an M119A2 105mm howitzer about a month ago at Yakima, WA. The photo was taken by 1SG Daniel Spraker. I've given Top more credit than Wiki has.

Thanked: 335Re the 1000 BR game: at the last match at our range one of the 1000 yard BR boys just shot a new record of some sort - I think it was 5 shots into about a 2.5" group. My feeling is that's impossible, but the paper don't lie

Although not a benchrest shooter, I shoot 1000yard NRA F-class which is shot from a prone position. The x-ring on the target is a 5 inch dot. Depending on the wind and other weather conditions I put 20 shots into t 8.5 inches at 1000yards.My class is limited to rifles under 22 pounds and either 308 or 223 caliber. (FT/R). Some benchrest guns weigh 70 pounds! Those not familiar with the shooitng sports or have actually been to a 1000yard range are indeed surprised.
