You'd better read Tom's post #1011 before calling me a troll. I more or less agreed with him, 7.62X54R being one of those standard military rounds used in conflicts over the last 150 years or so.

Oh poo. Was a guess at the most done-in by what round. No particulars were set.
I figured the age of a round and wars/conflicts, etc. Nobody knows, really.

Sure as hell ain't no .22!

I do like the ,22 short. Grew-up busting playing cards with them at galleries as a kid.

I always keep some CB cap ones around for the defiant squirrels!

Yea, I would question that or any “study” as that kind of information was not even kept by police departments until the late 90’s.

Back in the 50-60’s .22’s was more common as cheap handguns, (Saturday Night Special) now days and for the last decade or two the caliber of choice for street crime is the 9mm.

.22 long rifle is deadly because of its velocity and that they tumble or fragment once they strike bone, but most deadly, doubt it.

Remember, the Hitman's choice is a .22. Easy to conceal, easy to shoot and at close range to the head does the job rather well.

Yup, I read where if they had the muzzle up against the head, it would be pretty quiet.
Bullet would ricochet around in there. No mess.

Hope you are feeling good, Spendur.

Yep, cause that was how the local slaughter house, put down cows. Wasn't much louder than a cap gun. He used an old carnival type, single shot

    You did that before....AR15

Interesting story of Armalite. I recently acquired a reproduction of the original prototype AR15. He was a smart designer.
