Thanked: 431I'd bet money that if he could calm down and get around the right people and try it out that he would love it and be as excited as a little kid with a favorite new toy.
Maybe not, but I've seen it happen to 'anti-gun' people and once they tried it they had to rethink things and loved it.

Thanked: 488I wouldn't doubt that at all. I've had victims come to classes that were very anti gun before being victims. After going through class they loved it and it became a hobby instead of a distasteful ordeal to protect themselves.

The concept of shooting to put food on the table seems to have escaped him as well.
....and my favorite manners of putting food on the table are a wooden stick with a string looped around each end, and a very long bamboo stick that can keep 50' of string flying around in the air without any of it touching the ground...until my shoulder gets tired. But lets face it, if I'm hungry...I'm taking a gun.
I think he's jealous...and delusionalLast edited by Soilarch; 01-06-2010 at 02:53 AM.

My fellow SRS's, tobacco users and gun owners,
I just had a chance to read "Mr. Sophistication's" letter to all of us. It took a while because I was stropping my razor, cleaning my pipe, and sighting in my Colt H-BAR. Also, I have....to... read...very...slow... because...I.... am....a....dumb...American.
I am not sure why he thinks that the Finer Things In Life forum needs to include him, but he really could have used his Sophistication to stay out of this area. This is called Freedom of Choice. I understand that a European Socialist would not be familiar with that concept because the British Government did not take 50% of his income and then hold his hand to click his mouse and make the choice to stay out of this forum.
But there you have it! Ban something altogether because he cannot use whatever intellectual capacity he retained from his nanny state to understand that he can freely leave.
Friends, this opitimizes exactly where we are headed as well. Sophisticated intellectuals deciding that, for us, the switch is either on or off. For them, there is a dimmer that they can set to any level of moral relativism that coincides with their Marxist pragmatist beliefs.
Oh yes, I got a BBS shave this morning.

As a Limey I would like to chip in here. Firstly, Calgacus has a right to his opinion as I'm sure you will all agree and he has now exorcised his right to leave this forum. Personally, I enjoy shooting and as i live in the UK that for me means 12 gauge, sport and game. I too served my country and was fortunate enough to work many NATO forces (LRRP). All the guys I worked with were highly professional and a joy to be around whatever their nationality. Unfortunately, here in the UK we do not have access to the hardware you guys in the states do, but if we did, believe me I would be first in the que. I have no desire to kill, in fact the people I have met through the sport of shooting are the most articulate, intelligent and well adjusted people I know.
