Name Your Favorite Beers, Ales, Lagers ?
The warm versus cold beer thread being so informative I should have also asked what are your favorites. Right now in my seeking out the best of the brew I am really liking San Miguel from the Philippines, Morland Hen's Tooth Ale from the UK, Shock Top and Duval from Belgium and also Hoegaarden wheat beer also from Belgium. Lowenbrau is also a fav and lest I forget Guinness Extra.
If you gents would please let me know of some of your favs I will make a list for myself of others to try.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Hmmmm...
Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale is fantastic, as is their Pub Bitters.
I'm a big fan of Leinenkugel's, too, and Sleeman's Honey Brown in the "lighter, easier to drink" class, and perhaps the easiest drinking beer in the world--Koelsch! Love that stuff. Dom was my favorite...

I'm a Duvel lover. I used to live 15 min from the main brewery in Puurs near Antwerp.
When I lived in the center of Antwerp I lived 10 mnutes from the brewery De Koninck. You can go have a beer and it's coming fresh from the brewery.
And don't get me started on Hoegaarden. I spend my teens drinking that beer until I had to crawl home. Luckily I lived 5 minutes from my local pub.
My fridge is always stacked with Duvel. Unfortunately it doesn't taste as good as the real deal back in Belgium. So you can imagine the overload of beer I ingest myself when I do go visit.
Did I mention I love Belgian beers. We are raised on beer. Milk?

My favs would be a few from Sierra Nevada (Pale Ale, Celebration, Big Foot, and Torpedo) New Belgium's "2 Below", Guinness, Pislner Urquell, and pretty much any IPA. Tucson has a local brewery called Nimbus that also makes some good beer that may or may not be found that far east. Jimmy, if I recall correctly I think you said somewhere in a post you are in Florida, if so you might be able to find a beer by a brewery named Yuengling. I tried it while I was in Tennessee, not bad but no one sales it here out west.

It really depends on the time of year, During the warmer times I prefer something lighter like Hoegaarden but during the warmer times Murphy's Irish stout or Fuller's London Porter. For desert I'll always take a Young's Double Chocolate Stout.
Granted there are those beers that I will drink anytime I can get my hands on em, I don't care what the weather is like.
BJ's PM Porter
Leffe Dubble Brune
That last one I can only get when someone visits the other side of the pond. Can't find it here in Cali and I'd give a major organ for some.

I go through phases with beer. As a young American soldier stationed in Germany, I was able to drink some fantastic local beers. Beer that was so fresh, I honestly don't think I can ever have the same experience in America. I used to go to a local tavern near the base, and beer was cheeper than bottled water and tasted like the tap was connected to the brewhouse up the road. I traveled through Europe and had many beers that just thinking about it now makes me ashamed that I even have a bottle of Coors in my fridge. I enjoy a Pacifico Mexican beer now and then, Pyramid Apricot Ale that is around in the summer (not sweet), Moretti Italian beer, any decent Marzen style or imported, and local brewed beers at the local brewhouse.
For the last year or so, I have been enjoying lagers quite a bit. On a recent trip to New Orleans, I fell in love with a cold Abita Amber Lager on a warm humid afternoon. A dirty bar filled with local drunks, smoke hanging heavy in the thick air, and a bartender who serves Budweiser out of a dirty cooler behind the bar. Smoke in mouth he asks me what I want, and I see many drinking the Abita. I go for it, and five or so beers later I thought that there could not have been a better beer on earth. I live in Ca so getting it fresh is not likely, nor do I want it here; I only want it in New Orleans on a hot and humid afternoon. CarloLast edited by Carlo; 01-14-2010 at 06:27 AM.

Anyone try Mackelsons XXX Stout !!!!!!!! An older gentleman I used to work with pushed me to try it.... I gave it a shot and was impressed. Smooth, creamy ....not to heavy as guiness...slightly lighter (at least to me)..Kinda hard to find here in New Jersey...In New York City it was a lot easier to find, but the hunt continues !!!! LMAO ... give it a taste !!!CHEERS !!!!!!!!!
