I know of more than a few guys who have gone that way.
Back in the day when I lived in colder climates cough, cough, Toronto... butane was good only if I kept the lighter warm. Which sucked if you needed to relight as you walked the dog. I used a Zippo to light anything and everything. It sucked in the wind, but if you found a doldrum, you were golden.
I don't know what I would do were I to move back home (in the winter anyway).
Anyway - Do you still serve Yardie?David

A buddy came into town on leave before leaving for a deployment so a group of us got together for cigars, drinks, and dinner. I started the night with a nice Oliva Series V Melanio Maduro and A Montecristo No. 2 after dinner. That Oliva was absolutely grand.

I quit smoking cigarettes in June of 2012 after a family member came down with terminal lung cancer. i said that I was going to wait a year before I smoked a cigar, but haven't smoked one yet. I have been using the E-cigs. My little collection was down to maybe 20 and these are the trophy case ones I guess. Haven't had a celebration big enough to fire the real rarities up yet. I have the advantage of living in Florida, so I get first shot at a lot of stuff. Left to right is a Cohiba Siglo VI bought in London, an original Opus X A model from the first run back in the mid 90's, a large Opus X, an Hoyo Churchill bought in Mexico, and two Padron 1964's, one is a maduro version of their A size and the other a box pressed pyramid style in the normal wrapper. If I had the money and the access, I would probably pick the Cuban Punch Punch as my "daily cigar" Back in 2000 before Helms-Burton, I actually bought a box of those in Havana for like $75-80.

Thanked: 49I was trying to remember the bet cigar that I have ever had. Tough, because I had some great ones, especially around the same time that the current cigar craze first hit and before some manufacture ramped up production to the detriment of their product. That was definitely the case with the Miami made La Glorias. That really stick in my mind may have been the same cigar but with different labels. the first was my first Cohiba Esplendido. I have had a fair number of them since then, but none were as good. The second was a Churchill that was supposedly from the first batch of the Davidoff Dominican line, it tasted exactly like that great Cohiba. As Davidoff did not have a Churchill size after that, i am almost convinced that Zino didn't burn all of his Cuban stock and may have rebanded a few. This may or may not have been a leftover Dom Pergignon which is essentially the Davidoff sibling to the Esplendido made at the El Laguito factory. I may be wrong, but it sure tasted the same.

Nice to see you back in it there brother!
Nice colection!
Sometimes, you don't need any other excuse than you are alive to light up an expensive stick and savour. Sometimes having a good stick is why you are celebrating! First day it hits 70, I am smoking a Liga. Next day it's in the 70's, I am digging into my Padrons!
