Nice pics, Thomas.
Seems you hare having a great time down there. Would be great to visit Masada some day. I've read about it's history and specially the Roman legion X (Fretensis, if my memory doesn't fail) siege against Sicani rebels is most interesting.
Here's my early morning pipe, somewhere at the Baltic Sea.

That was my first bowl and I liked it. I was drooling over an open tin at the Chicago Show and decided that I had to have some. Loved the tin aroma - but it's not what I'd consider a strong aromatic, nothing like C&D's Autumn Evening (which I also like - it's like smoking pancakes!). I lucked out and bought the open sampler tin for $2 at the end of the show and it was almost 3/4 full still. Burned dry and smooth for me, not bitey at all. Nice subtle flavor all the way down. I'd recommend it to anyone who is interested in trying it. A healty dose of black cavendish, some latakia and perique and don't forget the turkish (my favorite!) make a real nice english blend with a little twist.

Eric,
Sorry to hear this. Pipes of this German master were really classic and unique. Yours is a beautiful example.
I never had a change to smoke any of his pipes and probably never will. But just getting a change to see some of his works of beauty is great.'That is what i do. I drink and i know things'

Some Captain Black, white pouch in an Old England. Ordered a new Freehand Grabow and some C&D baccy this AM, hope to have it by late week ! Sorry to here the news about Rainer Barbi, I'm sure his pipes will be sought after big time in the pipe smokers community. I would love to own one, that's a beauty that Eric's got there.
