I've heard that burley has somewhat bad karma reputation amongst the Hi-Fi pipe and cigar smokers as it is (or at least was) the main ingredient of the worlds cigarettes. Such talk is bs, imho, there are several great blends with a hint of burley. CF and UF and 3P's are some of those blends i like very much. Erinmores have been my everyday tobacco for years.
Howevers. Finally home after too many weeks at work. Starting my week off with some ice cold lager (damn it tastes good after weeks of waiting) and Capstan from vintage German pipe with somewhat strange bowl: Oval inside, diamond outside. Haven't ever seen such thing before until i saw this dude for few litas in Lithuanian 2nd hand store few years ago.
After walking the doggies it's time for sauna and getting ready to watch Football European championships game from TV with mrs Sailor. Red wine for her and beer for me. Life is great.
Edit: Alex seems to know something about this shape. At least he has some great looking Pete with oval bowl.

Thanked: 45Jack Knife Plug & Jack Knife RR, both contain a fair amount of Burley. Wessex Burley Slice is kind of hard to beat, too.

Thanked: 32There are a ton of Cornell and Diehls blends chocked full of burley. The bulk in lb quantities at pipesandcigars is shockingly cheap, sometimes on par with Carter Hall tubs.

I find Burley drying to the Mouth & Throat... I try to stay away from them...

Thanked: 45St. James Flake'10 in a Savinelli Milano. This is the 3rd jar of sammy g's products I've cracked from '10. Two years seems to be the magic number for the formation of sugar crystals on the flakes, at least in my cellar. I bet they will look amazing in another 2. Good stuff!

Finally time to pop a new tin...Orlik Golden Sliced. One of my favourite tobacco's, sweet grape on the nose that carries over to the bowl.
