Yeah I am a light smoker as well. Even less than you I have maybe 2 or 3 bowls a week.

But what is this Berliner Blumenfrau -thing? Let me explain.
The great aunt of my wife died couple weeks ago. She was born in 1916. She was living on her own, in her small house not far from my home. She was ok until the very end, smoked (or chain smoked) cigarettes and enjoeyd her every evening brandy. Although her moving was not so good anymore, her brain was working like of a young woman. Sharp as a knife, and sometimes she had a tongue of a snake when commenting life of today's society. Deep sense of humor.

However. She had collapsed at her home and was unable to get up or reach her phone. Luckily my mother in-law became worried as she hadn't answered her phone within few hours. She called an ambulance and although auntie Katri was upset and not wanting to go, nothing wrong, she just couldn't get up, but into hospital she went and the next day she was dead. Intracranial hemorrhage.
I was and i am very sad, but i think that at the age of that it would be great way to go. Sippin brandy at your home, having no clue that the next day you are dead. No long pain or suffering.

For the last few days we've been carrying her things out of her house because it will be for sale soon.

Long story short but auntie Katri lived and worked in Germany when young woman. At least in Berlin and Dresden. I think it was those 'happy years' (not so happy at all) between 1935 - 38.
We all got some few little things from her house as a memorial. I got few nice empty cigar cases, obviously she had been a cigar smoker too. My wife got some nice porcelain tableware made in V&B, Dresden. I'm pretty sure those factories do not exist any more. My son got an old alarm clock by Junghans, dated 36 and the reich logo on the back (luckily not on the front). Still works (and keeps noise) like German panzer.
I also got a beautiful massive writing table, but i have no idea where is it from as the auntie used to travel a lot after the war. She had been is USA, Canada and Australia too as she (like my wife) have some distant family members living in those places. I guess (but cannot be sure) that this Berlin flower lady (adapted by my daughter) thing must be from the times before the war.
Now the table is in my pipe room (man cave/gentleman's cabinet).

That was an awesome story "T"....That's how I wanna go when I die. Just quick and natural and enjoying whatever fine thing I am enjoying at the time. She sounded like quite the feisty lady...very cool.

For those of you that have started smoking a cob, here are a few points that work for me:

    1. My cobs smoke better with a loose pack...

    2. The filters are NOT needed, however, I find that they collect some of the moisture... So if you do use them, change them every time you smoke.

    3. One puff every 10 seconds or so... Not exact...

    4. ENJOY! Smoke them the way they are ment to be smoked...

Today was a a couple bowels of granger in a cob and a viking while chugging coffee trying to recover from last night. I made the mistake of telling the girls that I dont dance and not letting them teach me...they made it their mission to get me intoxicated enough to dance. It ended up being a very long morning after, between nursing the hangovers of 4 girls, my own, and cleaning. Have a good weekend everyone.
