I started the day with a nice stout cup of coffee and the benton full of equally stout OJK. Now, as I type, I'm relaxing with a Brickouse Mighty mighty and a few whiskey sours. It's proving to be a very tasty combination.

I saw a couple on Etsy today after seeing the post, one looked cool, a ceramic one, but seeing the words, "a crack, but it had been there for a while" caught my eye. About that pipe tool, I watched the video and the guy was showing the difference between Soviet era made ones, post Soviet and cheap knock offs. I called my friend back and asked him what markings were stamped on it, his reply was, none. No name, no country, nothing. I think it's hellaciously cool just for how his father got it. Even though he was on a paid trip to Europe, going there in 1945 via Normandy is a helluva way to get a pipe tool!

Thanked: 203sweet pipe rack for a sweet collection there Mick. i also enjoy my Grandfather's collection. i noticed the Missouri Meerschaum cob. i just picked up one at the Tobacco store at North Lakes a couple of weeks ago for $12.95. They are good smokers. Best of the cheapies. The stores around here only seem to carry really cheap chinese pipes, or occaisionally falcons. Cannot find anything like a Peterson around here. Guess we are surrounded by people with no class.
Regards,
Adam

Thanked: 983Those pipes and the rack are in my Aunt's possession Adam. I would dearly love to have the lot (another Aunt has some more) as they are just going to waste with them. At least I would put them to some use and/or care that would benefit these bits of family history. One of my cousins has our grandfathers old Gillettes and shave kit, also just sitting around not being appreciated. Doesn't matter, so long as the next generation appreciate them a bit more. One can hope.
