Thanked: 227Evening Gents
As you may remember I bought some new pipes. 2 of which needed cleaning up. But how do you clean an estate? All I've done so far is clean the shank stem abd bowl with some whisky. Cleaned off the outside ofbthe stems mouth piece with some toothpaste and coated it in olive oil. Anything anyone would add in for cleaning an estate before smoking?

I haven't tried the FM on the town yet. I've tried the on the bayou and across the pond, of which, I really like the on the bayou. As for the Blue Mountain, I really like it! If one isn't a fan of Latakia, I wouldn't suggest it though.

For starting an estate pipe off all afresh for your own choice of tobacco, I recommend the salt and whisky method. First up you can clean the inside of the stem with a pipe cleaner dipped in the spirit of your choice (hopefully you drink or have a favourite spirit ). The next part will take a few days of patience, you need to plug up the shank with a pipe cleaner, them fill the bowl with table salt. To this you then need to apply a small amount of your spirit until the salt is wet through to the bottom of the bowl. Place the bowl on a pipe stand in a warm shaded spot in the house for a few days until the spirit has evaporated. Then you need to dig out the dried salt. It can be quite hard, but it will come out. Make sure you get it all out, because if you don't that first bowl is gonna give you salty zap at some point.
Hope that is of some help to your resto of the estate pipe mate.

Early morning in California, going to smoke a bowl of MacBaren Old Dark Fired in a Peterson Rosslare as soon as I finish this post and my coffee, and while doing some routine maintenance on our Chevy Tahoe, thanks to SantamourJr's generous sample. Then off to my son's football game. Actually, it's the annual inter-squad scrimmage to introduce the team to the family and friends of the players, followed by a big barbeque.
Tonight, I plan on having a bowl of Plumcake in the Peterson St. Patrick's 2013, thanks again to a very generous sample from SantamourJr. This will be after some much needed yard work. Looking forward to it. Thank you SantamourJr!
