That Plumcake is sure tasty. So on the one end of the spectrum I love my Virginia No.1 for one dimensional satisfaction and then when I want something more,I go to the other end for Plumcake.

Funny how when I first started out pipe smoking,I was all about really sweet aromatics.True they smell very nice but now, They are like tongue burning candy to me.

It seems that most people who start pipe smoking take the first steps with candy tobaccos and usually they who decide to stay with the pipes pretty soon forget those candies forever. Not all, but that seems to be mainstream.

For reasons i do not quite understand, McB tobaccos aren't much popular at this side of the bond although they seem to be the brand that's available everywhere. I think that Navy Flake is ok, although little too mild for my tastes. I started my pipe smoking 'career' back then with it and nothing else but it. I still have an unopened tin from 1996. Haven't thought about opening it.

But i also think that McB Latakia blend (roll cake) contains no latakia at all (or then it's just me, after losing my most of my sense of smell at work for breathing too much burning oil and gunpowder).

Yeah Tomi..I really like MacBaren brands alot. The Plumcake has just enough Latakia in it that I can smell and taste. It makes me want to smoke more. sorry to hear your sniffer is off though. That's a bummer. But heck...yer a tough old salty dog now eh.

    Default OLD FRIEND............

This is my first Viking and my second Briar I bought when starting. Not my most attractive pipe. In fact, this was supposed to be my beater,my outdoor do whatever pipe. My most uncerimonious if you will. The old sweater in the closet. Yet this for some odd reason is my best smoker. Holds a good amount because it has a nice large deep bowl. If I were at the wheel of a boat out on a bay, this would be the pipe I would have with me I think.Likewise if I went down with the ship,my ghost would probably have this clenched in it's bony old teeth ??? I don't know what it is about this pipe, but I'm starting to get quite fond of this old Dane. It clenches comfortably on both mouth corners too.Maybe it picked me ?? Wonder if I should name it ??Name: 002.jpg

I will say this..out of the seven briars I own I have three Vikings ,and they are consistantley my best overall pipes. I love Vikings because they are highly affordable.Lots of choices in styles.Always smoke good. If I were a rich man, I would truly endorse Viking pipes. I only wish I had the money to spend right now to get a couple more because I really do like these pipes alot. Kudos to Bjarne Viking pipes.
