I don't know what it is about this pipe, but I'm starting to get quite fond of this old Dane. It clenches comfortably on both mouth corners too.Maybe it picked me ?? Wonder if I should name it ??Attachment 135024
That's a good looking pipe! Also, I can see your reflection on the kettle. Ha!

Great pipe nightblade . I'm drawn more and more to that style. I think it's just how easy they clinch

All of my pipes except my cobs are bent stems. It's all about the hang n clench for me. I had a straight Billard/pot (my very first Viking) Sold it to Devilpup. It was a good pipe, but the straight stem just didn't agree with me.

Winding down the work day, going to spend the last couple of hours in the back yard, in the shade, going through emails, regular mail, and doing some research while enjoying some Escudo in a new Radice slightly bent bulldog that I picked up at a local pipe shop last month. This pipe has a nice deep bowl, so I am looking forward to a long smoke, though I will not yet fill it up for the break-in. Second time smoking Escudo, and so far, so good.

It's great that we have such a variety of shapes and sizes to choose from. So far I prefer the straight billiard shapes, and I tend to keep them in my mouth because I'm always doing something with my hands when I smoke. This Radice is my first pipe with a bent stem, and it's a little heavy, but I'm sure I'll like it. Time to light up and get back to work (still working hours here in California). Good day to you all.

That's a pretty little Rhodesian indeed. Love the scrimshaw tamper too.

Okay so my flakes came in tonight. Thanks all you guys for the helpful suggestions. From Sailor I went with the Capstan blue. And why not...after all it was apparently a favorite of Mr. JRR Tolkien and being the good ol Hobbit at heart that I am,I could not let him down. And from eTom I went with Samuel Gawith Navy Flake.Whew it's got some Latakia in it.I could smell it through the tin. For tonights starter it shall be the Gawith flake in the Peterson 317 along with a nice pot of tea. Thanks again guys,I'll let ya know later on how it went......cheers. Name: 001.jpg

    Not everybody likes the Latakia...
I ordered this week some tins by Samuel Gawith and will test some tobaccos...

I gotta say right now I so far am liking this SG flake.....I may get to liking latakia more which would be like wow really ?! This stuff is like the MacBaren plumcake but a little more milder in bite. Of course the Peterson System pipe may be masking some of that down too as it's a cool smoker for starters. I had one of the female residents at work smell the tin for feedback....turns out she liked the latakia smell ha ha....go figure. I find the one female who approves of latakia maybe ? But...still a good positive sign just the same.Definitely goes nice with a pot of tea. Makes me laugh too as I remember when eTom was commenting a while back about his mother in law coming to visit so he spent the day smoking latakia in the house. Yep...my apartment will be smellin like latakia for sure I can tell.
