Thank you. The P01 is my soon to be daily CCW, the P938 is my suit and tie gun. The pipe I picked up while on a road trip because I'd forgotten one, it's turned out to be a great smoker.

It' funny to me that my most expensive pipe which was my first the Peterson 2013 Christmas pipe is my worst smoker. Not a bad smoker but temperamental compared to my others. Its probably my fault as I kind of abused the hell out of it not breaking in properly and smoking it way too hot. My other Peterson, a much larger pipe just smokes great as does my Savinelli straight billiard. So far the Rattray is doing fine but I only got two half bowls on its naked briar bowl and I didn't use the filter. Falcon also amazing smoker and really that was dirt cheap. Once I get some smoking experience im going to treat myself to something nice.

To complicate matters for the salesman it was being displayed in a box with a Erik Stokkebye 4th generation travel tobacco pouch under it. Yeah it was fake leather and all but seemed to be a well made accessory. Well the guy bundled them together as if it was included. I think he was in error cause there was a separate price inside the pouch. But anyway thats how he sold it to me with the pipe and i picked up a tin of Dunhill Elizabethan mixture to try due the favorable reviews. Anyway enough long winded explanations. Here's is my bowl of the day.

Seems like this shop I frequent has many popular tins of tobacco that are already quite old. I don't think the pipe guys buy very much there. The Elizabethan mixture I picked up had a manufacture date of November 2013 so it has some decent age on it already. Was a good Virginia experience less ketchup tin note than i'm familiar with and good sweetness to the smoke with Perique picking up in spice as bowl progresses. Nice blend a rich but mellow Vaper.
That really is a nice lookin pipe. Good job.

I've or "WE", as in other members have probably talked that there are probably only a few tobacco blenders... Seems as if between Lane, Peter Stokkebye, McClleland, MacBarren and so on have the market and others run along side...
    I will agree with that.

Like razor faust my pipe shop although decent is just as he described. Mostly it's fine wines and spirits and cigars. Modest but good selection of blends and a small selection of tinned tobacco's and a case and a drawer of pipes. enough though and decent albeit slow moving selection .

I think you are spoiled to have a local shop like you do.

I never said it wasn't a nice place but,The pipe selection hasn't changed for at least 2 yrs and the tinned stuff has been getting less and less. I only smoke one blend there,Cigars have steadily taken over .

Nice to have a B&M that you can buy aged tobacco at. No B & M's left in my town at all. Nice new pipe, enjoy.

I never realized how old some of these tins were until i learned how to read the manufacture codes on the tins.
Here's an example for Dunhill https://www.smokingpipes.com/smoking...unhill-tobacco Most of you guys probably know this already but I didn't have a clue until i came across that article. Unfortunately If a B&M is going to survive these days Cigars are the focus, I feel Pipe smoking is a dying pass time in our rush rush modern world. I once lit a pipe in the smoking lounge near me and the whole lot of Cigar nuts looked at me as if I was doing something illegal lol. I hope the trend will change and maybe the pipe will be king again like it was in the 1950's and 60's as a gentleman's relaxing pass time of choice.

    What a BM... I mean B&M?

I haven't seen one in 5 years... And it was a Smokers Friendly shop... Again, all the bagged pipe tobacco (RYO) and cigars you want...

I've had a few Peterson's, they never did smoke as good as some of my less expensive pipes (cobs)
