Speaking of........a young fella pulled up in the driveway where I work about week and a half ago driving a mint condition Willies. It was beautiful. I don't drive and I wanted one.

Ahh willies, we had one when I was a senior in high school. The only thing it wouldn't climb was a tree, and I think it would climb that given a chance

The thing just looked so tough and stout and it looked as if it would fit like a well worn glove when you sat in it. I was definitely envious.

the paperwork is done for today. Now is more time for this Stanwell-pipe.

Today I learned...a shackle isn't only useful for recovery...but also as a pipe-stand...

Spent a day with wifey at the old fisher/sailor village of Kustavi, about 80 km from my home town. Lots of country/naval antique shops and boutiques and that sort of things for wife, not so much for me. Luckily i had my Pete with some Commonwealth with me.
So i took the opportunity and walked to look how the house of Alatalo looks like (very known in Finnish literature). Let me explain:

Volter Kilpi (1874-1939) was probably the only famous person ever born in Kustavi, although he made a career at the University of Turku. He has also a questionable honor of being the author of the novel Alastalon salissa ('At the house of Alastalo').
Some (incl me) say it's one of the best books written in Finnish ever, while majority of the people say it's total unreadable bs, the worst ever. Howevers not many have ever read it and of those who start usually reject it quite soon. Only the bravest minds have the courage and patience to read, enjoy and taste the whole book.

The book is a monster of 1200 pages or so, and it tells about 6 hour period when villagers of Kustavi are trying to decide whether to build another sailing ship or not (at the end of the book, after 1200 pages or so, they haven't still decided). The first 80 pages or so tell only about one villager trying to decide which one of his pipes he should take into the meeting. Or should he maybe pick more than just one. In the book there's also an 'interesting' chapter named: 'How to judge son-in-law candidates by the shape of the pipe they are smoking'.
So it is no wonder that so many have rejected this book. It's such a incomprehensible mind stream. Some say that only few pages are enough to blow the brains out forever.

As you might guess, i've read it. Twice. If you think that Proust's 'In search of the lost time', Joyce's 'Odyssey' or Danielewski's 'House of leaves' are difficult then i can tell you that they are like kinderkaarden colouring books compared to this.

Not that i understand it at all but i sort a like it. It gives me some good vibes
