Basket briars tend to be "seconds" or no name pipes from what I have seen. The ones I have bought tend to be on the smaller side as well. Decent smokers for a reasonable price. I do need to get a pic of the pipe "family" soon.

I liked the Squadron Leader, and it will go well with a good black tea. I am starting to lean towards the more heavier tobaccos. The Escudo, which I had yesterday, is good, but is very light in flavor, but I think it would go well with a good beer, at least for me. I believe 1OldGI has some experience with Squadron Leader, and his words about it is what got me interested in trying it. It's good stuff.

Of course the ladies dig P.A. The National Joy Smoke. The stuff is a timeless classic. For years I loved PA and thought it had no match. Then after quite a while of stalking it, I finally pulled the trigger on a tub of Granger (also a classic American Codger Burley). Granger is the bee's knees (have I ever steered you wrong?)

While I'm thinking about it, if you're taking a liking to Latakia, I'd also recommend C&D Billy Budd. I usually don't start burning it until the weather cools down but it is a fantastic smoke (Burley, VA, lots of Latakia, and Maduro cigar leaf) as I've talked about before, I'm not normally a huge fan of Latakia but this stuff is the bomb. Matter of fact let me hit the tobacco cellar, I think I've got a bit of Billy Budd in there even as we speak.
