Thanked: 983Would you like to borrow one of my more 'cultured' pipes as would befit a man of you 'Universal' standing Jimbo?!

Tobacco choices
I've got a pipe coming from Sam Goldberger of Fine Pipes International...a Comoy sandblast billiard from about 1935 he selected for me. "It was not smoked with nasty tobaccos" says Sam. And I don't want to change that.
I'm a newbie. But my deck beckons. I have one pipe made by a now deceased local (Carlisle, PA) guy, Richard Johnson. For the curious, here's what I found about him:
Richard C. Johnson ranges among America's highest rated pipemakers. He started making pipes in 1939 for Weber Pipe Co. in Jersey City started by Carl Weber just one year ago. (can't be right)
After leaving the company Johnson moved to Pennsylvania, where he bought a farm near Carlisle. He continued making pipes having built a small shop on his farm. Weber contracted him to do specialty work for years after.
His skills have been notarized in numerous books and magazines over the years. Most recently he was featured in the December issue of Smoke Shop Magazine 1997.
In the early 1980's Johnson had an apprentice, Eric C. Christie, to whom he taught the art of pipe making for three years.[/COLOR]
Anyway, I've not smoked the pipe often and have stayed with cigars. But I've enjoyed it recently (a few smokes) and I am venturing into this again, with the idea that a well cared for, and smoked pipe is a good way to go.
BUT I know nothing about pipe tobacco. I regularly (nearly daily) smoke quality cigars, and have for 25 + years. I know enough to want to stay away from the aromatics.
So, to the question. What Virgina and English tobaccos do you suggest and where can I find them? Sam had suggested that I sample Kingfisher but I can't find it! Not asking for secret sources, but will accept your sage advice.
Thanks

That's nice. Maybe too plastic. I've always wanted to have Calabash. Would be nice to sit in an leather armchair (i do not have such) smoking heavy Latakia (that smells like a toilet cleaner, says my wife) , thinking serious thoughts and once my wife entered the room, i would just say: "You know my methods, Watson"
Besides: bad boys are smoking Calabash too:

I'm new to pipe tobacco myself.
From what I have come across the Samuel gawith Virginia and their other tobaccos are rated highly.
I've been smoking sg squadron leader lately and love it.Shaving_story on Instagram
