Thanked: 44I also have a question:
Has anyone tried Peterson's Sherlock Holmes? I'm on the fence between buying that and their Old Dublin mixture. I'm new to English, so I'm not sure if the Old Dublin might be too much for me. I'm mostly interested in SHerlock Holmes for the name (petty, I know), but the reviews on tobaccoreviews.com are all over the scale for it.

I've had one tin of Petersons SH some time ago. It is a mixture of VA/Burley and Orientals although i didn't taste much orientals in it. It is not bad but i've had better of these mixtures as i do not remember this being anything special. Very easy to get a tongue bite unless you smoke really slow and pack carefully. If you try it outside in windy weather it almost surely burns too fast. I do not usually fancy ribbon cuts as they easily tend tend to smoke too hot. So was this. Very mild it was too.
As said, it is up to personal tastes but i've had better (and worse). IMHO Peterson makes some great tobaccos like UF, IF and 3P but this isn't my favorites. Of course i had it only one tin. Would be fair to smoke another before making any judgements.
Some people on my national forum have called this as an aromatic blend but i wouldn't name it candy-like "aromatic" but just a straight and honest VA/Burley blend. You won't lose much money if you get yourself a tin and try. You don't know before trying.'That is what i do. I drink and i know things'
