First pipe today: Les Wood

Good day gents. As you can see, I've been on a bit of an Oriental kick lately, purchasing a variety of different leaves to enjoy before deciding on some to cellar.

This evening's delights -
Tobacco: Frog Morton Across the Pond
Pipe: Stanwell second - "Royal 'something'" 531 made in DK. The area around the rim of the bowl is smooth, while the rest of the bowl and shank are rusticated. Possibly a replacement bit? Seems to fit the bill of some late-60s to mid-70s shapes in the Stanwell catalogs, but I'm unable to determine the second word on the stamp... maybe a "Royal Guard"?

Any thoughts Eric?

EDIT: I almost forgot! It was a successful day at the local tobacconists. A sample of Peterson's Irish Flake, and a sample of Squadron Leader from secret stashed bulk. Got to chatting about Samuel Gawith tobacco being scarce and how I wanted to try Squadron Leader. Guy says, wait right there, pulls out about 3/4 of a pound in bulk, and says, "I'm not even selling this right now, but I'll give you a sample until it comes in again." What good fortune, no? May wait to bust out the SL at my bachelor party in a couple of weeks.

Nice pipe! Through the years there has been at least 'Royal Guard', 'Royal Rouge', 'Royal Danish', 'Royal Prince', 'Royal Silver', 'Royal Sovereign' and 'Royal Matt'. There might be more of these royal Stanwells but i cannot remember any right now.

Hmmm... might be a Royal Rouge too. The difficulty is the stamp is worn right after "Royal." The cursive writing could be a G, an R, or a ??? In any event, an enjoyable pipe with a big sturdy bit for holding in the mouth while one's hands are busy... typing perhaps.

I'm not an expert of any kind with pipes, rather just a pipe smoker. I've never seen Stanwell with a stem of that color. That doesn't mean that such wouldn't exist. It only makes them more unique, if you are up to such things. A friend of mine has both 'Royal Guard' and 'Royal Rouge' and they are both with black stems. Of course there are several sub models of Guard and Rouge etc models. Might be some special version?
I checked few pipe sites of both Scandinavia and my own country. There are usually good links but not with this.
There are several people here who know much more about pipes than me. Eric, Thomas and Alex and probably many more.

@smreno77: Royal Danish, Royal Sovereign and Royal Guard were sub brands made by Stanwell. The others mentioned above were Lines/Models that Stanwell produced under it's own name, and there were a lot! If you are sure it's a second (no Stanwell stamp or "S" or "S" with crown) then it should be one of these three, but I don't know everything!

There's also lesser known Stanwell sub-brand: Sailor. I have no any idea of timing but i've seen few of them at Scandinavian forums. I have one. It might be that i'm wrong (as usual) but at least that is what those pipe gurus here keep telling.
Also Nielsen pipes are sort of a pre Stanwell. Nielsen changed the names of his pipes to Stanwell at 1948. Nowadays Stanwell pipes, at least most of them are made in Italy. I have one of the last Danish models: Nanna Ivarson.

Gentlemen,
I recently aquired an Edwardian pipe cabinet from ebay in England, it holds 6 pipes and has a nice drawer for tobacco and the like. I have also coming a nice victorian era clay pipe and case, and a couple of clay tavern pipes from Canada. I will post photos when I get home, currently am up north [fly in fly out] I am looking forward to trying the clay pipes.
