I've asked him to give me an overview of the work he's going to do on it so I can marvel at it myself and pass it along to you. It will certainly be great to have my only meer in smokable form again!

I'll keep you posted as I learn more.
Thanks for info. I've thought that meers, being such a porous and fragile material are impossible to repair, but luckily i was wrong.
Do you know what kind of glue is used to repair?
Looking forward to see the pics once you get it back.

Just an afternoon walk with few mates and a pipe.
Sailor pipe & MacBaren Navy Flake.

Was it Sherlock Holmes or Hercule Poirot, or inspector Clouseau perhaps who said that criminal always returns to crime scene? From my schooldays i remember some religious text, and if i remember it correct, saying something about fool repeating his folly. Or something like that.
That is how i feel every time i buy MB Navy flakes from the local store. This was a tobacco i started my pipe smoking years ago. This is not my top favorites but actually there's nothing wrong with it. Very mild and not too much aromatized. Not my everyday smoke, but maybe every now and then.

And it is not the only problem i have with this tobacco. When i was a kid i remember old timers smoking their pipes and hand rolled cigarettes. The tin aroma of this tobacco is exactly the same as i remember those old timers smoking. Damn i haven't been able to remember what tobacco they had and the idea keeps haunting me. Might as well been some local stuff, but if you gents have are familiar with this blend, i'd like to hear your opinions about it.

Nice one! It's so short...does it smoke hot? Man, it looks like the perfect pocket pipe.

I've just introduced myself to the pleasures of smoking a cob. I recently got one of the MM Washington's with Dave's vulcanite stem on it. What a great smoke, especially for the money. I picked up two more MM naturals and Dave will be making stems for those as well when he repairs the meer.

I'm glad to have found him. Nice guy. Great craftsmanship. Seems a lot of people have only the best to say about doing business with him. I'm happy to add my name to that list.

I used super glue, on a different pipe shop owners advice, to keep the cracks from separating and getting bigger. For all I know, Dave may not fuss with the cracks any further if they are stable. I've asked him to clean up the cracks and do whatever he thinks is best with that if it is warranted to do so.

What he does have to do is find a way to get a stem sleeve to fit in the now slightly larger hole. Right now, the stem sleeve just sits loose in the pipe and does not screw into the meerschaum properly. I also believe some, if not all the threads in the meer itself may be stripped. It will be interesting to see how he remedies the situation.

    Thanks, Buckeye!

Long time no see. Glad to have you back. Still making pipes?
Actually we have 3 of those dogs. My wife is at the volunteer rescue service and she trains these dogs to search (to earn their living). I do not train, i just take them out for a walk.
