Are you sure?

My Dad used to be the Admin and Personnel officer for the RCMP on the east coast which meant, among other things, that any complaints from the public would cross his desk. There was one woman who regularly called in from down the coast to complain that the RCMP helicopter was constantly hovering over her house. My Dad, in his very kind and diplomatic manner, would soothe her and assure her that everything was fine, etc. This happened on a daily or weekly basis for a while.When he told me about this, he ended by saying "The RCMP doesn't even *have* a helicopter in Newfoundland..."

Just sayin'...

Whenever general officers come to visit, they always fly in because our garrison here is so remote, and I can assure you, this was no illusion. It's hard to mistake the turbine whine of a UH60 when you can literally throw a baseball out your window and hit it. (My office is on a compound inside the flight line here). It's not often you see a blackhawk in our part of Bavaria, but when you do, you can guarantee they are going to conveniently land it right beside my building and leave the damn thing running for 2 hours.
