Jamie's post brought back memories of my very first Real Girl Friend 'Jane' we used to sing this version together. We parted as friends and many years later we met up and had a great day just talking about the past and what we'd been doing for all those years.

She said that she'd had a boyfriend who tried to sing If I Were A Carpenter to her and she stopped him and said that she'd only let me sing that to her. So I 'we' did.

The last time I saw her was 4 years ago the last week of January. She and her husband came through my checkout line and I hadn't seen them for quite awhile. Her husband I were chatting and Jane was 'strangely quiet' when I handed her husband the receipt he leaned over and whispered; "Things have changed since we saw you last, she has Dementia". Jane started to cry, he put his arm around her and helped her out of the store.

That broke my heart! She'd turned 58 two weeks before on the 14th of January. Yes I still remember her birthday, she was and is very special to me.

With that short version of War and Peace I hope all will enjoy this:

Wow, it sounds a though, if it weren't for bad luck you'd have no luck at all. Quite a few sad memories.

Life is full of 'The Good' and the 'Bad' it makes us who we are.

Personally I hope I never forget any of them.

The memory of Jane at my store is far outweighed by the memories of the two of us 41 years before at the age of 17 years old, finding out what life and love were about and fumbling our way along the path. The feel of her touch, the way she kissed me, even the way she spoke all are so ingrained in my memory.

Dementia may have taken those from her, but so far GOD willing they will never leave me!

Bad Luck instead of No Luck At All!

I always do a little Michael Madsen shuffle when I have a razor in my hand.
