Thread: Fountain Pens?

Noodler's is a one man show, Nathan doesn't have a problem speaking his mind and as popular as his inks are he doesn't have to curb his behaviours to suit sales Most of my 20+ inks are Noodlers and I will keep buying them as long as he makes good ink. Heck it's the best ink for the money at this time and his veriety is amazing.

Man I am really starting to regret joining up on the SRP forums. I find so many odd anachronistic ways to spend money on here its ridiculous. Oh, wait I had something better to say. What would be the preferred recomendation for a n00b; Lamy AL-Star vs levenger True Writer? Thats not the worst part. I so rarely write its rediculous. But I am betting my co-worker will start leaving my pens alone after a couple messes lol.

Lamy are hard to beat for the buck, another one that is pretty good for the $$ is the Platinum Preppy at about $5 ea and very sturdy they are the kind of pen you can have laying around the office and not have to worry about it. They write very well also, and depending on the ink you fill it with, not worth worrying about them vanishing... Some inks would cost more to replace than the pen

Ya inks are a problem these are just the bottles I have, I have about 100+ in sample bottles... Oh ya forgot the blue samples I gave my daughter... ok I'm down to 100+ samples

Just like razors soaps and stones, FP's have Pens Ink and Paper issues lol Finding the combination that works best for you and your styles. I'd addicted to inks, Browns in particular, and can't seem to pass one by

Platinum preppy seems nice, while looking for it I stumbled across an ohto tasche. I like the look of it, but seems like it might be a bit spotty on the reviews. that preppy is pretty much worth it since about the only pen I like to use are pilot G-2's and they are almost the same outright price, i guess if I want to grab a fountain I am kinda expecting an increase in the looks department lol. But 3 bux to try it out weighs in pretty heavy!!!

I have a Lamy Safari and a Lamy 2000 and they are very nice quality pens. Safari, which is the same as al-star but plastic, or al-star would be a good first pen. The Safari writes well and everything about it is functional, especially the great clip. The converter will let you use any bottled ink with it. You can easily pull off the nib on a safari with some scotch tape and then switch it for a new one.

My everyday pens are a Lamy 2000 which I have loaded with Noodler's Manhattan Blue, and a Sailor 1911 loaded with Noodler's Blue Black. I use them for my honing log, occasional letters, to keep score on games and for misc stuff. One can always find stuff to write with a fp.

If I buy something cheap I tend to lose it. Instead of a plastic flashlight I have a 5 cell Maglight. I think I've had it for 15 years.

I have a Cross pen and it's the only the second pen I ever kept up with long enough to empty a refill.

If I like fountain pens I'll probably invest in a decent one.

That is what hailed the "new" pen onto the market, Carbon Copy and multi page copies, FP's just have a heck of a time dealing with em. However there are a few pens and more notably Nibs that deal with it just fine. Sheaffer's Triumph nib was dubbed "the Nail" because it had the stifness needed to do hard writing and not damage the nibs as it would many of the finer nibs out there at the time. But the ball point was "easy way out" and the fall of the FP was asured.

I got into FP's to get away from the deathgrip I used to write all the time. Now my hand is relaxed and I can write a letter that is more than a few words long without my hand cramping up

The Ahab came in today. It was surprisingly easy to fill and I was pleased that the ink doesn't cling to the pen as you dip it in the ink.

I'll find out tomorrow how much I like using it at work. I have to write customer service notes to myself all day.
