I have done a lot of load development for this round...love it. It's my favorite round for the ar-15 platform. "One round puts them down...."

I feel your pain, Illinois may better on some issues but the whole FOID (Firearm Owners' I.D.) card system is absurd. And there's a complete lack of an provision for concealed carry. Can't be done, legally, period. Unless you're a retired officer, congressman, or jail officer. We're pushing hard to get that changed but the freakin' NRA pulled it's lobbying support halfway through...so we're kinda back at ground zero.

Anyone done wildcats...is a custom barrel all that would be needed to take a 308 platform to say, 338 federal or 7-08?

I'm guessing that mag well doesn't see any use now right?

Did you have to plug it with something?

I bet it's fun to shoot!

Nope, single shot... I've been told that if a person practices, they can reload in 12+/- seconds...

The Mag Well has a "Jimmy" plug in it to keep crap out...

As far as shooting it... I don't know... I've had it for 4 years now and have never shot it... No range long enough in Iowa that I can find...

Yes, many aftermarket stuff has been out for it for some time. My only gripe is the dang bolt group is 2.5lbs by itself - stoner/armalite/dpms - all - I've weighed each. The as issued ar-10 (finland) weighed 7.5 lbs. What's w/ this 10+ manure?

The only time I get to fondle such fine armaments is during our annual recert, or if I take one out for some high risk operation.
I would have thought that after the north hollywood shootout they would have atleast made it easier for the police to get their hands on what they need to protect themselves from the bad guys, and made allowances for target practice besides recertification.

I'm not a policeman myself, but thankfully my state doesn't have a problem with my colt match hbar...have you ever thought of moveing?

I've got about 7 years to retirement, so I can't move right now. I will tell you though, my charming wife and I are already planning our escape from this God-awful state. The day after I sign my retirement papers, we'll be viewing the CA state line in our rear view mirror
