I use my Have-a-heart baited with kale or clover or some other of their favorite dilectables. Then promptly dispatch with a pellet to the chest. Game over. Pellet gun is nice and quiet. If it weren't for so much pond weed, I'd reattach the rope and go for the "feelin' thirsty?" method.

Like your habs. We haven't had enough summer heat yet, but a few are approaching the 1" size. They really get hot and ripen after a good cold snap or two for this area.
I just made a Thai noodle dish(enough for 8-12 meals) with 2 chocolate habs. Skin, hearts, seeds and all. What a tasty, tasty dish mellowed and sweetened by coconut milk and a little raw brown sugar to counter balance the fish sauce and soy sauce and thai curry paste.
I just love that I can go to the fridge. Heat some up, go outside and grab a handful of sugar tomatoes(cherry-sized yellow guys) and spread them over the dish...

Thanked: 13246Fall is here and Winter is close behind
Things seem to be moving fast this year..
So far my plan seems to be working, the fence panels are coming off, I am reinforcing them as I bring them down and moving them to the Outbuildings around back..
Pallet Forks: God's gift to aching backs
Over the next couple of weeks I will take out the wooden beds, knock down any remaining plants, cover with some Manure and leave it all under the snow for next year..
The only things that will be standing out there are the Pressure treated posts..
Next spring I want to double the size of the garden and do exactly what we did this year for the next section, leaving that center post intact and using it as a base for a sprinkler..
Move the beds to the new section and bring in a heavy duty Tiller to do the old section getting it turned and much deeper for next year..
I think it all might work
We learned quite a bit more this year, we actually got to eat much of what we grew, I hope each year we will get better at it..

Gorgeous, Glenn. 'Gotta be satisfying. I don't know your elevation, but at about 1200' & being on the N. side of a ridge, our season is short. Weeds blow in from the forest as fast as we can work it. 'Wish i had a greenhouse to get stuff started early. You should be eating well next year. Enjoy!
