Its a great feeling and a new frontier, isn't it, Glen.
Right there with you.
Nothing like sticking your finger into the soil and feeling the warmth. At least, that's what I've been doing in mere appreciation of the soil temperature as a vital element of beautiful growth.

Success! I got the first spoils from my garden this year. I picked my first zucchini and proceeded to eat it all in about five minutes. It was glorious and I cannot wait for the next one in a few days.
Just a week or two more and the summer squash will be ready for my grill!

Yes, sandy soil here, we have gotten good rain in this region. But the plants are so loaded that I could not resist the opportunity. Around Michigan the rule of thumb is 1 inch of water a week to have any success .And this year we have gotten our fair share and then some. already got 5 cherry maters on the 4th. that's rare for here. usually don't get any of them till end of July.

Ok heres a funny. Big family get together. I say I will bring the salad. After dinner, everybody ranting about how great the greens tasted
I tell them it was growing out of horse S##t. See it in the back of the compost pile?? A big pile of Red leaf lettuce and Romaine.
Now that was funny. Some of the best food grow in some of the most unlikely humble places.
And we got rain again today. this is going to be a good year for this region.Feel bad for folks going through the drought.

I am getting my zucchini and summer squash daily now (boy was I wrong about how fast the summer squash would come in.) I think about half a week more for the beans will be ready.
Ultrasoundguy- Did you start your peppers from seed or buy them? My peppers are growing well but I don't have any yet. I am only an hour or so east of you so I am in the same boat weather wise.

Oh ,I bought. Last year i started from seed and got killed. Then bought plants and the Mothers Day frost killed me again. Bought again to get anything. I live in a mobile home and dont get enough light to grow from seed. This is actually my second picking from this plant. Good news is we have more blossoms and babies on the vine. The weather this year is a rare blessing isnt it??
