Garden looks great. It is a learning curve with gardening similar to all things. Keep up the good work. You sure cant beat the taste of homegrown fresh.
You may find somethings just dont grow well in your dirt. My carrots are the exact same size as yours. They still taste great.

Picked a 2.4 lb tomato today. I would take a photo but it ended up on a plate of cottage cheese covered with garlic, sea salt & pepper

It's not easy but occasionally we make the kids get into the action!

Yes I know not much, but enough to share with the wife on top of morning cereal. If God is willing I will have enough for a cobbler by next week.
We have about 100 ft of Red raspberries and they were really big in Idaho this year. About the size of my thumb

The wifey and I want to try at least one kind of berry next year in the garden, we have wild Raspberries and Strawberries on the property but we want to see if we can't get something in there that the deer / bears / birds don't get to first

Red Raspberries should do well up there. They really tend to spread out so don't get them close to your garden. If you keep them clean from weed and grass growth they are easy to care for but if you slack off, they will be a nightmare LOL. They like water also. Usually takes two years for a sprout to produce a berry. The wife freezes all the extras for later use in cereal etc. Good luck

Over the next couple of weeks I will take out the wooden beds, knock down any remaining plants, cover with some Manure and leave it all under the snow for next year..
The only things that will be standing out there are the Pressure treated posts..

Next spring I want to double the size of the garden and do exactly what we did this year for the next section, leaving that center post intact and using it as a base for a sprinkler..

Move the beds to the new section and bring in a heavy duty Tiller to do the old section getting it turned and much deeper for next year..

I think it all might work

We learned quite a bit more this year, we actually got to eat much of what we grew, I hope each year we will get better at it..
I take it that you have not lived in Idaho long and are just learning the growing seasons. it will get better for sure. Idaho is a great state to raise a garden. I also have the pallet forks for my JD loader. It is hell to get old but ya just have to work smarter

Been making tomato sauce, pasta sauce, hot salsa etc with the veges from the garden. We have way too many tomatos and peppers so trying to use up the veges. Yesterday I canned 12 qts of hot salsa made with everything from the garden. Red jalapenos, red Fresnos, Red serranos, tomatos, garlic, onions, leeks. I also made some spicy pickled eggs again all from the garden and chickensName: 2014-09-22 14.36.56.jpg
