ok, lets freshen things up around this thread? still in the vein of music that doesn't suck, but what was the game changer for you? what music when you first heard it completely blew your mind?

I had 2 main game changing periods. first when i was 12 and saw metallica play the freddy mercury tribute concert.

yes metallica have done better albums and tunes, but remember at the time i had had no exposure to them. so for me, this performance was the jaw dropper. Even having grown out of pointy guitars a long time ago, that rhodes V kirk is playing is still a bit of an object of lust for me..

the next main game changer which broadened my horizons out from heavy metal and made me realise there was a million other genres of music out there was this and this and this

all within the "electro genre" but the point is it made me realise there was so much other music out there i hadn't been exposed to. after this i would listen to absolutely anything, at least to give it a chance

I just have to share this for it's pure awesomeness!
This is literally 5 mins from my houseboat.
You will recognise the castle if you saw the recent film Ironclad, it is one and the same.

    I recommend going full-screen at 720p, it's worth it!

Ok, Simon... let's go back just a few years... lol

Paul Currack at Berlin with Roger Waters:

    "Hey You"

Say what you will... this recording was a turning point in the lifestyle of folks my age. It dragged us from where we were and launched us, kicking and screaming, into where we are.

Paul screaming into that wall was something I related with then... and now.

Here is an absolutely dreadful recording of "Comfortably Numb" from that 1990 concert.

I was lucky enough to have giant directional antennas, amplifiers and gear at that time to record this concert in it's entirety on 3/4" broadcast quality tape with a linear stereo track. The SVHS copy I have with the hi-fi audio track far surpasses anything you'll see here, but sadly I can't reproduce that for us right now.

When I can I'll host it's download... in the meantime... we have this...

Mother, should I trust the government?

A great tune... "Sine-aide" did a fine job... I have my hair-cut just like her's now.
