When thinking about the dangers of watches I can't think of them ever being outlawed such as using a phone while driving....
Most of the day at my work work a cell phone will get no reception so even if I carried mine it would be useless.
Although it has been relaxed they use to be against the rules because of the interference with medical equipment.
If I was an employer I would seriously consider banning cell phones in the work environment. I wonder how many man hours are wasted each day because of them? Although I will concede we have all known people that waste time watching the clock.

Haha I guess I am.
I think it comes down to one thing in the end: If you like it, you will stand it's downsides. And even better, not think of them as downside, but as part of the charm.
I don't have a thing for watches, therefore I see it's flaws and am not attracted to it. But one who do like watches doesn't think of it as flaws. Same goes for shaving or any other thing.
You are making it sound way more difficult than it is, for me at least. I have my phone up now and again because I need to do other stuff on it, and while I do I see what time it is. Taking up my phone isn't much/any more difficult than taking up a watch anyway. And I don't have to know exactly what time it is all of the time, and I do have a sense of time that isn't too far off.

Thanked: 4206Some have said watches are becoming obsolete, but the same could be said for straight shaving so I guess I fall into that niche market that holds on to the old ways.
I have a trusty timex analog, a zodiac quartz that keeps truly impeccable time, as well as a couple fancy type whitnauers for when I'm going out with the wifey. Still got my Mickey Mouse timex in a drawer for a grandchild to be made later too..hehehe.
Bought the son a very striking wooden watch for Christmas that he quite liked. Made by a company called wewood. May buy one for myself actually.
Cheers.

I don't think they are. There are lots of environments where you have to know the time but can't use a cellphone.
E.g. I scuba dive a bit, and it is bad reception for cellphones down there.

Watches are all about convenience so anything to make them less so is a big negative. Besides what if you need to get the time when you don't have the phone out?
When LED watches came out they were a big flop for two reasons. The only came on when you needed them and you needed to push a button for the display to come on so you needed two hands. LCD displays soon pushed them right out of the marketplace. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero
