Har! What a trip, the thing has been sitting in drawer for 25 years and today I found the Bulova Corporation's recommended Accutron repairer Old Father Time.

Thanks, if it was not for this thread it would still be in the drawer.

It will be in the post Monday.

Unfortunately the service life for accutrons is finished. Parts are impossible to source. The only way to do actual repairs is by cannibalizing other watches and it's the same 3 parts that wear on all these watches. if you have a 214 batteries are a problem because they don't make em anymore and the closest one these mvmts don't like. Some will run and some run terribly. The 218s are more accommodating for batteries.

What you describe is what Old Father Time does. We'll see and I'll share the estimate when it comes in.

Parts can be had, the coils can be repaired,The problem with the batts is they need 1.35 V Mercury batts ( no can get them anymore)
The fix is a simple gear change to run on 1.65 batts.

Default What types of watches do you like?

I have a stainless steel Swiss Army, 2 Fossils (1 S/S, 1 S/S black), a black leather Masuda Mustang, a Timex Ironman Triathalon, a rubber Garmin Fitbit, and an assortment of vintage silver & gold pocket watches. I wear all of them except for the pocket watches, depending on what I'm doing.

Most of the time it's the index wheel and there aren't any spares. Just old ones from running watches that don't last long after replacement. Most places that advertise repair of accutrons really mean battery repair and overhaul of running watches. If it needs parts they return it to you. The coils have wire thinner than a human hair and usually it's not a single break but a general deterioration.

I've had about 5 accutrons which were running when I got them but none do now. I have an Omega F300 which still runs.
