Thanked: 13Tame by Swiss Watch standards, but this was a daily wear for everything, including crawling under the truck when necessary, for years. That is until I let an unauthorized jeweler change the battery, and they blew the job on the waterproof seal. Just got it back from SwatchGroup after a complete gutting, and happy to have it on my wrist again. That ceramic takes a lickin, and keeps on blingin...

I ordered a Filson Scout 45.5mm Quartz watch today! Filson watches are made by Shinola Detroit Watch Co., a "new" company that makes very good watches in Detroit, Michigan using Swiss parts! The Scout Watch - Watches | Filson. I never linked anything on the forum so I do not know if the above link will take!
It did take! Clink on the underscored link above and it will link you to the Filson Web page showing the Scout Watch!Last edited by ironmaned1987; 03-23-2016 at 01:53 AM.

My Citizen, Radio controlled, the time is automatically set every 24 hours by way of radio/satellite signal.
Perpetual calendar and solar power that eliminates the need for batteries. This is my EDC watch.

Since you linked the watches I just have to say, though the Shinola watches are nice pieces the Filson versions are on the high side price wise. You're paying a pretty penny for the filson brand.
Of course if you like them then you pay the going rate to get what you like.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Hi BigSpendur! I did do research on Shinola and Filson before I decided on the Scout. Both brand names are on the Shinola website (as well as on various high- end department stores' sites). I originally was going to get the Shinola Runwell 41mm with tan leather strap, which lists for $550. I tried that watch on at Nordstrom's in Milwaukee as well as the Filson Scout. The leather watch band on the 41mm Runwell was too short for my wrist (and the x-long version was not available). The Scout fit perfectly, and IMO, was better looking on my wrist. BTW, the Runwell strap is 20mm wide, whereas the Scout strap is 22mm wide and longer. Pricing on the Shinola and Filson brands are determined by Shinola who manufactures both. IMO, the pricing is fair for both brands. Anyway, since I was a user/purchaser of various other Filson product, and I had an established account with Filson, I was able to negotiate a modest discount and I bought the watch directly from them in Seattle. They shipped the watch the same day that I ordered it and will be receiving it here in Franklin (Milwaukee suburb) this Saturday. Also, by ordering from them direct, I saved the 5.65% Wisconsin sales tax. I am a retired CPA, and I am happy with my purchase!
