I think Philippe Dufour is something like a National Treasure in Switzerland. A lot has been written about him, here is a quick read: Philippe Dufour - portrait of a master. I think his watches are bought by the .0000000001% of the population. They are things of extreme beauty.

So full disclosure, I've never owned a good watch and now I use my phone for time.

Citizen ECO-Drive I got about 8-9 years ago. It's never missed a lick and requires nothing other than changes necessary for time zones. When this dies I'll buy another, but with the Atomic clock function Name: image.jpg

Nice article. Love the finished piece. Doubtless I will never be able to afford such a timepiece, but this would be something I would purchase, rather than the bulky, oversized monstrosities that seem so in favour today. It fits my eye . . . clean, simple, elegant. It just tells me the time, as opposed to the time, barometric pressure, g-load I am experiencing at the moment, and direction of travel.

Today a $15 casio from walmart will keep better time than any $5000.00 watch

I'm pretty sure that wouldn't get you one even if you were so inclined.

    The iWatch

Ellen DeGeneres tweet about the iWatch is brilliant and hilarious: "So excited for the Apple Watch. For centuries, we've checked the time by
looking at our phones. Having it on your wrist? Genius. "

Using your cell phone to tell the time is the 21st Century equivalent of a 19th Century Pocketwatch. The bottom line is you have to haul it out and look at it to tell time no different than the pocketwatch. Wristwatches are way more convenient.
