CZ has the best grip I ever felt, runs reliably, but the sights and trigger need a little help (good luck finding a gunsmith that will even touch a CZ). For carry, there are just a few more sharp corners that don't mix well with my soft parts. It is a great gun though and they were a great deal years ago when a CZ-75 was <$400. At today's prices, I don't know that I would get one again.

It's also nice that with a Glock I can detail strip it down in 5 minutes with a punch and a screwdriver and clean out all the lint. Whereas the CZ requires a hammer, roll pin punches, and lots of patience.
thanks for the info. I love both the glock and the CZ clone Ive used. But I cannot hade a glock., something about the shape just doesn't allow it without major printing. The sights and trigger rant a big deal. My dad has a good deal of experience fiddling with the full size from the 1980's.

Grizli - I'm with you Im not a big fan of double action triggers and prefer cocked and locked or the pps/glock style of loaded chamber striker.

I'm a Glock lover for various reasons, but I get it why some people don't like 'em, and frankly, out of the ten I own, there are only two on which I have left the grip stock. Did reductions to some degree on all of the others, which makes a slight difference in concealability, and a huge difference to my grip comfort and efficiency. I've also replaced the stock sights with Warren Tactical sights (or a Trijicon RMR) and replaced the 5.5 lb. trigger bar on all of them with the 4.5 lb. version, which I find a little smoother to work with. One cool thing about Glocks is that all this work has been so easy to do, spare parts cheap and available, and not much worry about f***ing anything up - e.g. the first grip I did turned out a wee bit less than perfect , but a bit of epoxy, sanding and durakote got it back up to snuff, and above all, it shoots just fine!

If I were not already so invested in Glocks, the Walther line-up (P99, PPQ, PPS and PK380) would be my next choice. I think they are as reliable as the Glock, and a little more pretty and "ergonomic" - also a little harder to work on. The PPS in 9mm was my carry of choice for a few years. You will forget you're even wearing it, and it hardly prints at all, but you're limited to a max 8+1 capacity, which may be fine for you. I handled the PK380 earlier this year and really liked it, especially at the price, but note that there is a recall going on at this time: PPS® - Walther America

My first love is my Colt SAA. 45LC, but she is a Safe Queen & only likes her leather from El Paso Saddlery cowboy style.
For CCW, the G19 is hard to beat.

i toted my 19 for awhile until i bought the 26 , for me i can out shoot the 19 with the 26 and am able to double and triple tap targets faster and more accurate with the 26 ... i have smaller hands and the new generation glocks fit my hand better but i didnt wanna switch and throw everything off since all my other glocks are 2-3generation

Swap out the trigger disconnect and it will shoot even better. I put a 3.5lb in my wifes (easy part swap) and I promise you that you wouldn't want to be "trying" to mess with her. She is quite accurate with it, wearing out milk jugs at 25-35 yds. Those G26's are some good shooters.

I'm in a dilemma right now as I am looking for a new ccw. I really "want" the Kimber CDP Ultra II & probably will end up with it...I'm almost there on saving my pennies. My dilemma is that I could buy two baby Glock .45's for the price of the Kimber...but I just love the 1911 platform.

I'm a big Kimber fan also as I have three but the Colt defender is a fantastic CCW in 1911. Plus it's less $$.
As far as the Glock goes I also changed out the conecting bar and firing pin spring along with the extended mag release and slide release. cheap mods, they drop in quickily and make a huge change in how it fires and carries!! If you don't change the firing pin spring along with the conecting bar it lightens the trigger pull but will not get the 3.5 LB pull.

That extended mag release mod is a PITA from what I remember! Did that to the wife's, then had to take the dremel to it as it stuck out too far. That's one of the mods that you never hear me recommend actually.

I'll have to look at the Defender, thanks for the input. Does it come with "melted" or rounded carry edges? Since it's a stainless slide, I guess it doesn't matter as I can do it myself if needed.

i also like the 1911 look , there was a brand that i dont remember what it was that the dealer i was at was pushing that was a 4" barrel 1911 looking pistol but those kimbers are real nice ... my gun of choice all around was the H&K USP but when i bought my first 3 they didnt cost $800 , i had to let go of almost all my guns at one point and am just now building back up the collection the last few years !!
