Hows that new frontier lower working out for ya? I've got one with nothing on it. Was going to put .40 smith but hammer is too fat for the bolt carrier. Damnedest thing i ever seen. Working on a .458 socom for it but scared of such big round on plastic lower.

Runs like a champ with federal bulk. Only about 1.5k through her, though, because I shoot the CZ more often.

Thanked: 1936Contact the mfg & see what they think. It would probably be just fine, but you are right...I've never seen a poly shotgun receiver & it kicks like a 21 guage with duck & pheasant loads (high brass #4's). If you don't reload, you don't want a .458 socom...unless you have deep pockets.

Thats what i thought about the .458. I'll keep polly on small caliber. As for reload, i've got 100 brass and projectiles waiting for a gun. Cant wait to try it out but my lathe isnt set up yet for threading the barrel so i'm still waiting. I did get 8 pounds of the new CFE 223 powder this weekend for some 5.56 loads. Im also gona be trying some Superformance next weekend i think. It is supposed to be real good for .308. Ill let ya know how it goes.

Thanked: 1936I've yet to work up loads up for my ar-10 (t), but I have a feeling that it may like lighter bullets. THe 168gr matchking & 178gr a-max's that shoot 1/2 moa all day long in my bolt gun don't perform as well in the armalite. I've heard a lot of guys shooting bullets in the 150 gr range, so I've got to give that a try. I haven't tried any of these new custom blended powders either...I'm getting behind the times!

Here is my setup...
So what your looking at is a Savage match action, mated to a McGowen heavy contour match barrel 1:10 twist.
A Grizzly muzzle brake.
I have a ball bearing lift kit installed in the bolt.
It is steel bedded in an XLR Industries aluminum chassis.
Wearing (in this photo) a Millett 4-16 X 50 which has been upgraded to a 6-25 X 56
I have worked up loads that have me shooting 210 gr. Matrix bullets with a BC of .750, at 2710 fps (Oh yeah, this is a .308 Win)Last edited by PierreR; 03-24-2013 at 09:50 PM. Reason: Added description.

Thanked: 1936Nice set-up! Is it mag fed?
Man, you are pushing case pressures higher than I would dare using that heavy of a bullet & cranking it that fast. Just be safe and watch the pressure signs...Southeastern Oklahoma/Northeastern Texas helper. Please don't hesitate to contact me.

Using Reloader 17. Crept the loads up, there are no pressure signs yet. Extractions are still smooth, prim

Not sure if I posted new photos here, but I've ditched the scope on my CZ and put on BRNO aperture sights. Here are three 10 shot groups I shot today; 50 feet, standing, unsupported. Bottom left, then top left then bottom right.
(The targets were going to be made into buttons by my school's robotics team, but something was wrong and they were doomed to be trashed. I like my version of recycling.)
